Principals’ Leadership Style, Teachers’ Commitment and Performance among Secondary Schools

The study's main purpose was to examine the school principals' leadership styles, teachers' commitment and performance among secondary schools in the Division of Zambales. There were a total of 470 secondary teachers who served as respondents in this study who have taught during the school year 2021-2022. The Descriptive research design was used to assess the perception of the teachers to assess the leadership styles utilized by the school principals and its relationship on teachers' organizational commitment. The data were gathered from the respondents through a modified-adopted survey questionnaire. The descriptive (frequency, percentage and mean) and inferential statistics (Pearson r and ANOVA) were utilized for the analysis and interpretation of data. The major results showed that the teacher-respondents perceived that the school principal's leadership style as Kayod, leadership style by Libro, leadership style by Ugnayan, and leadership style by Oido are highly practiced while leadership style by Lusot is practiced. The teacher-respondents perceived as Beyond Expected Standard with regard to teachers' organizational commitment in terms of affective commitment while perceived as Approached Expected Standard in terms of continuance commitment and normative commitment. The teacher-respondents are assessed Outstanding on their work performance. There is a highly significant difference on the perceived level of agreement of teacher-respondents' work performance and the school's principal leadership style. There is a highly significant difference on the perceived level of agreement of teacher-respondents' work performance and their organizational commitment. There is a highly significant relationship on the perceived level of agreement of teacher-respondents toward the school's principal leadership styles and teachers' organizational commitment. Filipino leadership style by Kayod increased teachers' work performance in terms of quality and time, technical skills and knowledge, originality, creativity, and initiative in the Division of Zambales. The performance of secondary school teachers denotes a high level of achievement and commitment. In the light of the findings, it is recommended that the School heads may adopt leadership style by Kayod, Leadership style by Libro, Leadership style by Ugnayan, and Leadership style by Oido because the combinations of these Filipino leadership styles enables leaders to engage everyone within the organization. Affective commitment can be used by school leaders to represent organizational commitment among teachers. Teachers perform better when they feel that their school head cares about them, they feel respected, act as ambassadors for their organization, and are generally valuable assets. To increase school and teacher performance, school heads can apply Kayod, Libro, Ugnayan, and Oido leadership style to the team by adopting a range of methods and strategies. The school head may regard and pay proper attention to teachers' views and opinions in order to meet the needs of the entire institution in terms of teaching loads, teaching materials, and other supplies for the instructors to function efficiently. To boost teachers' dedication to their work, school administrators may use the combination of Kayod, Libro, Ugnayan, and Oido leadership approaches. To raise student achievement, the school principal may employ suitable measures such as prizes and recognition for teachers who are dedicated to their work. A training program to improve organizational change management capacity could be planned by school heads and DepEd officials. The school head may consider to increased teacher participation in policy-making, meeting schedules, discussion of ideas and opinions for the school's progress, and increased student achievement are some of the ways school heads can create a conducive environment that will help improve teachers' performance and satisfaction in the field of teaching.

Teacher’s performance at Junior High School Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Medan is affected by many factors. Research on this topic intends to assist schools in formulating policies to improve teacher’s performance. This research aims to analyze the influence of the principal’s leadership, work commitment, and work discipline on teacher’s performance with job satisfaction as a moderating variable at Junior High School Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Medan. The subject in this research is the teacher in Junior High School Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Medan totaling 51 people. The sample in this research was taken using the census method. The variables examined in this research include leadership, work commitment, work discipline, performance and job satisfaction. In analyzing data, researcher conducted the validity and reliability tests, t-test, and test of the coefficient determination using the Smart PLS 4 application. The result of the validity and reliability tests showed that all variables met the requirements and were reliable. The result of the t-test show that leadership has no effect on performance with a T-Statistics value of 0.202<1.96, work confidence has an effect on performance with a T-Statistics value of 3.838> 1.96, work discipline has an effect on performance with a T-Statistics value of 2.867>1.96, job satisfaction has an effect on performance with a value of T-Statistics 2.032> 1.96, job satisfaction is not able to moderate the effect of leadership on performance with a value of 0.936 <1.96, job satisfaction is not able to moderate the effect of work commitment on performance with a value of 0.169 <1.96, and job satisfaction is able to moderate the effect of behavior on performance with a value of 1.976 <1.96. Based on the results of the determination coefficient test, an R square of 0.443 was obtained and it could be concluded that leadership, work commitment, and work discipline affected performance by 44.3% while 55.7% were affected by other variables which are not discussed in this research.

Relationship between Pedagogical Leadership and Teachers' Job Performance as Mediated by Organizational Commitment

To facilitate an in-depth understanding of how leadership styles affect teachers' job performance, it is essential to understand mediating variables and their impacts on the performance of teachers. This research investigated the association between commitment, pedagogical leadership and teacher performance. It used a correlational research design involving the 539 teachers from Gozamin and Dembecha districts, Ethiopia. First, fitness of the models was confirmed via confirmatory factor analysis. There were a modest to high, significant and positive relationships between pedagogical leadership, teachers' performance, and their commitment. Pedagogical leadership positively predicted the commitment of teachers, which enhanced job performance. The study found that pedagogical leadership was a protective factor that had an indirect influence on indices of teacher job performance via commitment. This paper adds significantly to the theory and literature on teacher performance by associating it with leadership style and commitment in the Ethiopian situation. In a practical sense, the study results are anticipated to be important for school principals and policymakers to monitor teachers' job performance, thus, maximizing their contribution as experiential educators at schools, to ensure quality education for all (SDG 4).

The study aims to determine the effect of Principal Leadership on Achievement Motivation, the influence of School Climate on Achievement Motivation, the influence of Principal Leadership on Teacher Work Commitment, the influence of School Climate on Teacher Work Commitment, and the effect of Achievement Motivation on Teacher Work Commitment. This research was conducted in 2019 to SMP Negeri teachers in Tanjung Morawa sub-district, with a population of 235 teachers. The number of samples determined by Slovin formula obtained 148 teachers, taken with the Proportional Random Sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire after being trialed. Validity Test is done by Product Moment Correlation and Reliability test using Cronbach's Alpha coefficient. Data analysis techniques used are descriptive analysis, test requirements analysis, and hypothesis testing using path analysis.
