Bibliometric is the measurement technique of all written scholarly communication to understand the pattern of information flow and evaluation of work. This study reveals the analysis of the progress of Library and Information Science research activity as reflected in doctoral research output in West Bengal Universities, The main objective of the present study is an attempt to measure the research performance of the doctoral thesis submitted on Library and Information Science in the universities of West Bengal from1979 to 2018. This Doctoral Thesis is being taken to evaluate and analyze to identify the research productivity and research gap of research activity. The Bibliometric method has been used to conduct the study, and data have been collected from two sources i.e., one from the Indian Thesis Database Shodhganga and the rest from the Central Library of the Universities of West Bengal. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and MS Excel has been used as a tool to apply the Bibliometric method. A total of 179 theses were retrieved from aforesaid two sources. Calcutta University awarded its 1 st Ph.D. in the year 1979 and the number of theses has risen according to the year pass. This study comprises only the bibliographical aspects and content analysis of the theses of Bibliometric Analysis.
