Increased use of total shoulder arthroplasty for osteoarthritis and improved patient-reported outcome in Denmark, 2006–2015: a nationwide cohort study from the Danish Shoulder Arthroplasty Registry (original) (raw)
The Danish Shoulder Arthroplasty Registry (DSR) has documented the rise in total shoulder arthroplasties performed for osteoarthritis from 2006 to 2015. This nationwide cohort study examines the changes in the types of shoulder arthroplasties used and their impact on patient-reported outcomes as measured by the Western Ontario Osteoarthritis of the Shoulder (WOOS) index. Findings indicate a substantial increase in the use of anatomical and reverse shoulder arthroplasties, which is associated with improved WOOS scores, reflecting better functional outcomes for patients undergoing these procedures.
