Attitude of car drivers towards Alternative Fuelled Vehicles : a survey in Milan (original) (raw)
Among the different strategies for achieving sustainable mobility and a better quality of life, alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) and electric vehicles (EVs) are identified as a good solution for decreasing private transport sector’s external costs. Nonetheless, their market penetration level is still very low, because they are considered, on average, less performing than gasoline vehicles as concerns price, recharging times and “range anxiety”. Policy makers and the automotive industry are particularly concerned about the diffusion of these vehicles, and several applied economists have carried out studies on the topic in order to measure the willingness to pay of potential buyers, and their purchasing behaviour.
