Analysis of the Evolution of Unemployment in Romania
2014
The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the existing situation of the labour market, from the unemployment standpoint. The present article begins by reviewing the literature and goes on to analyse the evolution of unemployment in Romania. The present study indicates that unemployment is higher among men than among women. This phenomenon has become apparent after the economic crisis, when the fields most affected were production and constructions in which most employees are male. It is predicted that the large number of unemployed individuals will not be diminished, even after the end of the crisis. Even if the economy returns to normal and consumers begin using consumer goods again, this increase will only be able to absorb a small fraction of the unemployed.
A Statistical Analysis of Distribution of Unemployment in Romania, Between 1991-2010
2012
The unemployment represents a big problem at local and national level for every country. The most of the society problems are determined by this and also the criminality rate is proportional with the unemployment rate. If before the 1989 Romanian Revolution the rate of the unemployment was relatively low, in the last 20 years this rate experienced high and uncontrolled increases because the instability of national economy. Obviously one of the main reason was the disappearance of many combined and manufacturers or the privatization of these. Another cause was the fact that most of the Romanian people, especially younger between 18 and 40 years of age and especially in the 2000’s has gone for working abroad. For this reason the national economy has declined dramatically and in the beginning of the new millennium, more exactly the first 4-5 years, the unemployment rate was one of the highest from entire Europe and the highest from the Central and Southern Europe. Fortunately, in the l...

The paper identifi es the main factors that infl uence unemployment in Romania based on achieving an econometric model. In terms of the labor market, unemployment is a macroeconomic employment opposite, representing a surplus working population relative to the population likely to be engaged in viable conditions imposed by the market. Analysis of the Main Employment Trends at EU and Romanian Levels
Journal of Economic Development, Environment and People
Lately, the European Union has made progress in the labor market, especially in terms of employment, except in the economic crisis. The purpose of the article is to highlight the main labor market trends at European Union level, with an emphasis on employment as well as differences between Member States in the context of current challenges, namely long-term demographic trends and technological change. In this respect, two EU Member States, namely Romania and the UK, were also taken into account in order to highlight the differences between advanced and less advanced economies in terms of employment opportunities and the integration of vulnerable people on the labor market. The analysis, which emphasizes demographic change and employment, can serve as a basis for knowledge for the design of national policy instruments by emphasizing deficits, surpluses or equilibria. Trends are analysed dynamically over the 2007-2017 period, based on EUROSTAT data. The challenge for decision-makers i...
The Economic and Social Effects of Unemployment in Romania
Review of International Comparative Management, 2021
Unemployment is considered as a negative element of economic development that affects in varying proportions all countries, especially those underdeveloped and those in transitions to the market economy. This paper presents the "Economic and Social Effects of Unemployment in Romania", where we presented the unemployment in the contemporary world, its typology and its measurement, namely: the evolution of the number of unemployed, a rate of unemployment and its structure in Romania. Unemployment has become a problem, along with industrial development, since the second half of the 18th century, in times of recession, when industrial enterprises shrank their production and therefore released a large number of workers who became unemployed. In Romania, unemployment is partly due to the transformation of the structure of a national economy, according to the criterion of efficiency, in order to adapt to the competitive environment.
The Impact of the Economic Crisis on Civil Employment in the South-West Oltenia Region of Romania
Procedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences, 2016
This paper investigates the impact of the economic crisis on civil employment at the regional level in Romania, especially in the SouthWestern region of Oltenia. The aim of this study is to test whether the decreasing number of the employed population in the southwestern Oltenia region is mainly due to the economic crisis or other factors. The proposed theory is that the decline of civil employment is the consequence of several specific factors (culture, habits, traditions, the dominant religion, applied restructuring policies), as well as political decisions at the central and regional level. The results confirm our theory. In its first part, this paper focuses on the comparative analysis of particularities regarding the evolution of the average number of employees, across macro-regions and development regions of Romania, with emphasis on the years 2008 and 2013 (i.e. before and after the outbreak of the economic crisis). The second part of the paper highlights important changes specific to each economic branch (in terms of civil employment) across SouthWest Oltenia region in the period under review.

Econometric models applied in study of unemployment rate evolution in Romania
Proceedings of the 10th Wseas International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2009
Unemployment can be considered a global macrosocial flow generated by causes that have to be the economic situation of users, or the status of tenders for work. On the one hand the emergence of unemployment, on the other hand, its maintenance and alteration represent aspects that may be considered only in connection with the real system of market economy. A statistico-econometric analysis of unemployment can be achieved either by setting the unemployment evolution, or on the other plan, through a study of correlation that can be establish between this measurement indicator of unemployment and the main factors of influence. An analysis of the evolution and the structure of unemployment will be realized on two subperiods: 1992-1999 and 2000-2006, because, the conditions of the rate of unemployment formation are different, taking into account that Romania was reorganized and placed in economically with the millennium XX changeover.
(online) Characteristics of the Labor Market in Romania between
2017
The level and quality of employment are important indicators for the current society, workforce being the main engine for the development of any modern economy. Within its Europe 2020 Strategy, the European Union has set itself the target for the 2020 horizon, to reach a 75% employment rate for population aged 20-64-years old at European level. Romania has set an employment target of 70% by 2020 for the same population. Given the current context, Romania's economy is under the influence of a continuous and dynamic process of change, emerged from both the transition to the market economy and the phenomenon of globalization. This paper proposes a systematic, but not complete, approach of the consequences of the global crisis, on the main indicators of the labor market at national level, highlighting the main characteristics of the Romanian labor market: evolutions, structures, peculiarities, regional disparities, etc.
