There have been inconsistent findings in the literature concerning the relationships between TQM and organizational performance. Hence this research has prompted further investigation on the effect of other variables that may better explain the nature of these links. In the related literature, many theories have suggested that the compatibility between strategies, resources, and capabilities are the keys for organizational success. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating effects of environmental regulation and policy (ERP) on the relationship between total quality management (TQM) and organizational performance (OP). Quality assurance (QA) and continuous process improvement (CPI) as TQM elements considered in this study were moderated with their respective relationships with organizational performance. Therefore, to achieve this purpose, this study has integrated different theories such as the contingency and the institutional theories in order to provide the effect of QA and CPI on successful strategy implementation. Questionnaires were distributed to 250 Malaysian food and beverages companies. 71 questionnaires were returned and used in the analysis using the PLS-SEM. Studies revealed that TQM can be divided into the management or soft aspects (management concepts and principles) of TQM and the technical or hard aspects (management tools and techniques) of TQM . This study is exclusively based on the soft elements of TQM. The results of this study revealed that QA and CPI have always been significant predictors of organizational performance by following the regulations and policy related to environment. More importantly, the results have also confirmed the moderating effect of environmental regulation and policy on the relationships between TQM and organizational performance. This study also supported the premises of the contingency theory and the institutional theory by reaffirming the importance of the supportive ERP for any successful strategy implementation in enhancing organizational performance through the implementation of innovative practices. However, this result cannot be generalized as data were collected through a cross-sectional approach. Future research can extend it to longitudinal research.
Supply Chain Performance Version 14 ICSCM
The primary purpose of this explanatory sequential mixed-methods study was to determine the best fit model of Supply Chain Performance (SCP) in the manufacturing sector of Region XI in the Philippines. The survey was administered to 332 manufacturing companies across the region employing stratified random sampling. After analyzing the quantitative data through structural equation modeling, us17 interviewees selected from the 332 respondents, were subjected to an in-depth interview, and focus group discussion for validation of the results. The data obtained from the interview were analyzed through thematic analysis. The quantitative results revealed that out of the five exogenous variables tested for the best fit model on SCP, only three came out as having direct influence, to wit: buyer-supplier relationship (BSR), integrated information system (IIS) as the best predictor, and logistics performance (LP). The modest direct influence of LP on SCP was strengthened with its indirect influence through IIS. Thematic analysis of the qualitative data unveiled the essential themes generally confirming the best fit model and its particulars. Connecting-merging-confirmation surfaced as the nature of data integration.

There have been inconsistent findings in the literature concerning the relationships between quality management and sustainable performance. Hence, this research has prompted a further investigation of the effect of other variables that may better explain the nature of these links. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating and moderating effects of organizational excellence and environmental regulation and policy (ERP), respectively, on the relationship between total quality management (TQM) and sustainable performance (SP). Human resources management (HRM), service design (SD), information and analysis (IA), continuous process improvement (CP), benchmarking (BM), management leadership (ML), and quality assurance (QA) as TQM elements considered in this study were mediated and moderated with their respective relationships with sustainable performance. Questionnaires were distributed to 303 Malaysian food and beverage companies. 98 questionnaires were returned and used in the analysis using the PLS-SEM. The results of this study revealed that effective BM, CPI, SD, QA, and IA as TQM elements have a positive and significant effect on sustainable performance on one hand and organizational excellence as a significant mediator of ML, CPI, SD, HRM, and IA to sustainable performance on another hand. In contrast, the results indicated an insignificant moderating effect of environmental regulation and policy on the relationships between TQM practices and sustainable performance. This study supported the premises of the contingency and the institutional theory by reaffirming the importance of excellence for any successful strategic implementation in enhancing sustainable performance through the implementation of quality practices. The developed framework of this study can be employed by policy and decision-makers. Managers in the industry should consider the importance of this model when implementing any practice in the future. For future research, it is recommended that a longitudinal study is carried out to evaluate the impact of TQM, organizational excellence, and ERP on SP.
