Successful treatment of the post-traumatic osteolysis of distal clavicle with alendronate (original) (raw)
Post-traumatic osteolysis of the distal clavicle can occur due to various factors, including trauma and repetitive microtrauma. While typically self-limiting, it can lead to significant bone loss, warranting effective treatment options. Previous conservative therapies have shown variable success, highlighting the need for reliable treatments. This study suggests that alendronate, a bisphosphonate known for inhibiting bone resorption, may improve clinical and radiographic outcomes in cases of post-traumatic osteolysis, although further research is required to establish definitive efficacy.
