The COVID-19 pandemic has forced an immediate implementation of online learning. However, little is known about its effectiveness and challenges faced by the students. Thus, this study is aimed at examining the effectiveness of online learning and the challenges that it presents to pupils' abilities to learn. This study employed a case study design using a survey questionnaire, administered to 99 students from a secondary school in Jasin, Melaka. Data were analysed descriptively (calculation of percentage and frequency). Generally, the findings indicated that the students have computers or smartphones and an internet connection at home. Besides, it was found that that the ability and comfortability to use computers was high (>93%). However, their motivation in online learning was low (41.5%) and ability to work in a group was at a moderate level (66.7%). They also agreed that conventional teaching (face-to-face) was important for their learning (98%). These findings are valuable for the government, school administrators, teachers and parents to acknowledge the importance of wellequipped facilities and a stable internet connection for effective learning. However, it is recommended for future researchers to utilize a larger sample size and students from various backgrounds to better understand this issue.

During this COVID 19 pandemic situation, all sectors including education is also conducting its services via online. Most of the undergraduate in Sri Lanka are very familiar with class room traditional learning process. This paradigm shift has caused advantages and disadvantages in their education activities. A study on awareness of online learning of undergraduate is very much important to measure their present performances, finding pitfalls and draft online learning policies and guidelines for a successful learning environment. This research paper involved both Quantitative and Qualitative methods; where these two methods were used to determine the factors of awareness of students about online learning among the undergraduates of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL). There were around 400 questionnaires were sent to the students via WhatsApp and received 310 responses that can be used for this study. Students mentioned that they were facing the internet connectivity issues (40.2%) during this COVID-19 lockdown period. Most of the students pointed out that their monthly expenditure (69.4%) and internet bill (48.5%) have increased due to this online learning system. More than 50% of the students were happy with online education during this lockdown. Only 19.6% of them preferred the offline learning. Most of the students already had the experience in Zoom (51.2%) but, they preferred t o use WebEx for their online education due to the user friendliness of WebEx. It is recommended to develop any virtual reality applications to conduct practical sessions. Also, universities can conduct online training programs about online education tools. Furthermore, government should consider to provide internet connection with free of charge to the students also internet providers should analyses the coverage issues in the rural areas. Furthermore, researcher can conduct survey about students’ perception and expectation about online learning in future.
Problems faced by school and college students during online learning

With the emergence of COVID 19 pandemic, rise in the online learning has been increased worldwide. The mode of learning has been changed to online. Schools were shut for a longer period of time because of physical distancing to ensure limited contact with people during COVID 19. So it has become very important to start the classes for the students in order to minimize the delay in the course. The present study was conducted to find out the problems faced by the school and college students due to online learning during COVID 19 pandemic. The study was carried out on sample size of 120 students. Descriptive research design was used for conducting the study. The information was collected and gathered through Google forms. Analysis was done on the basis of the collected data. Findings of the study revealed that most of the respondents were facing technical issues and majority of them were also suffering from various health related problems due to prolong sitting. In order to deal with all the problems, some suggestions and coping strategies were suggested to them for their health and well-being.

The pandemic of COVID-19 has forced the Indonesian government through its Ministry of Education and Culture to implement policies moving conventional classroom to online classroom. The current study is a collective case study consisting of analysis of survey on students' perceptions of their online learning during the pandemic. Sixty-six students of English Language Education Study Program at Pamane Talino College of Education (STKIP Pamane Talino) were involved. Their perception s of their online classroom that were recorded through a survey. The recorded perceptions are in terms of students' participation, accessibility, material and assignment delivery, and the use of e-learning platforms. The results were then summarized into tables and narrative descriptions. The study identified three major obstacles in conducting online learning in English Language Education Study Program at STKIP Pamane Talino: the first is availability and sustainability of internet connection, the second is accessibility of the teaching media, and the last is the compatibility of tools to access the media. The result of the current study suggests that accessibility is still the major factor influencing the success of online learning. Online learning for English Language Education Study Program at STKIP Pamane Talino, and potentially Indonesia in general, requires some more friendly platforms so that students' participation can be increased. This is especially for students who reside in rural areas with limited internet connections and other support systems.

The COVID-19 pandemic placed the technology as the main tools in the learning process. The use of technology during the beginning of the pandemic time gave different lessons learned for both teachers and students, including students from the frontier, the outermost, and the least developed regions in Indonesia. This study is a descriptive qualitative which aims at describing the perceptions of the students from the frontier, the outermost, and the least developed regions in Indonesia who were studying in Sanata Dharma University. The perceptions were related to their difficulties in joining the online classes, the solutions they took, and their expectations of the online class during the pandemic situation. Questionnaires were distributed to the students and interviews were conducted to some samples to gain the data for those three concerns. The findings of this study can be used to help the lecturers to design the learning which can trigger the engagement of the students from the frontier, the outermost, and the least developed regions in Indonesia.

This research aims to evaluate the challenges in facilitating online teaching for secondary education during the Covid-19 pandemic based on a case study in the western province of Sri Lanka. With the pandemic, teachers had to face many challenges concerning online teaching, as they were unprepared for the remote teaching process that was to follow. For this research, teachers were able to give an account of their experiences, challengers and the sacrifices that had to be made in adapting to this new method of teaching. A mixed method of data collection and analysis was used in this research, as both quantitative and qualitative methods in combination would provide a better understanding of research problem enhancing the validity of the results. Through the findings of this research, it was revealed that most schools and its teachers had embraced online teaching in the midst of the many challengers during Covid-19. Thereby it is vital that measures are taken to overcome and to mitigate the effects these challenges faced in online teaching, making it possible for teachers to deliver an online education for students that is on par with other technologically advanced education system.

The Students' Perception on Learning Using Online Method in Pandemic Era

The study is investigating the perceptions of students about learning using online method, the problems they encountered during e-learning process and their strategy to face e-learning method. The subject of the research was coming from 4 students who were divided into third and fifth semester from 2 universities, such as Bina Sarana Informatika and Muhammadiyah Tangerang University. The descriptive qualitative is used to gather the required data. Five questions are asked to get the data through online interview. Data shows that most of the students' perceptions on online learning method is quite similar. Most of the students feel the same problems which relate to internet connection problems. The problem distracted their understanding of the materials given by the lecturers. Then, the strategy to encounter the problems are asking and discussing with friends. Besides, they also find their own way through internet. Despite of being easy to find many ways to solve the problems, the offline method becomes their most favourable learning method.
