Identite et individualite dans la physique quantique quelle philosophie de la nature ? (original) (raw)
2022, Identité et individualité dans la physique quantique : quelle philosophie de la nature ?
Quantum mechanics is characterized, among other moving ideas, by the postulate of indistinguishability which is a formalization of the violation of the principle of identity of the indistinguishable formulated by Leibniz: identical particles in states such as the singlet state, are considered as distinct particles but have no properties to discern them. The debate sparked by this state of affairs took on particular emphasis in the 2000s, with the program of low discernability of fundamental particles. Our objective in this article is to identify the philosophical issue of this question: the discernability of fundamental particles becomes, in fact, a central question in a metaphysics of relations, such as ontological structural realism, anxious to show how at the fundamental level, objects without intrinsic properties and non-occurring relations are constitutive of the fundamental interactions from which space-time, natural entities and all our reality emerges.
