A wireless sensor network for the monitoring of large PV plants
In this paper a new monitoring system, suitable for large photovoltaic fields, is presented. Differently from others available monitoring systems the new approach is based on a sensor network which collects detailed information about the electrical performances of each string forming a photovoltaic plant. A devised electronic board has been specifically developed and prototyped which embeds innovative functionalities. Among them the supercapacitor based harvesting stage for self powering of the sensor network and the wireless communication which prevent additional wiring. Moreover a new performances analysis logic has been developed and implemented in a control software tool which analyzes collected data and generate graphical reports for an immediate localization of faults and yield losses.

Energy Efficient Wireless Performance Monitoring System For Solar Panel
For a PV array, system monitoring is considered important to analyze the stability and performance. The simple monitoring system involves a data logging system with wired cables for transmitting data. Removing all those drawbacks observed in the existing system this proposed work is designed for the wireless monitoring of photovoltaic cell as a high precision solar array monitoring system. It is planned to measure the basic PV array characteristics like Module Temperature (T), Open Circuit Voltage (Voc), Short Circuit Current (Isc) and wirelessly transmit the data into real time GUI in the computer. The GUI was developed using the PROCESSING software. The commercially available WPAN hardware module ZigBee is used for implementation with API protocol for exchanging information. A sensor node with XBee and a set of analog sensors (eliminating the use of controllers at the sensor node) for measuring current and voltage generated in the PV array has been deployed. A coordinator node with Atmel microcontroller and Xbee connected with a PC to analyze the parameters.

Wireless Monitoring System For Photovoltaic Generation With Graphical User Interface
International Journal of Scientific & Technology Research, 2020
Monitoring Photovoltaic (PV) parameters is very important to see the performance of a PV in producing electrical energy. The energy produced from PV is greatly determined by changes in solar radiation and temperature from PV. The energy produced will vary according to the level of solar radiation and temperature changes. Monitoring in real conditions is required to improve reliability, evaluation, implementation and costs. Aside from that, the description of the characteristics obtained is also useful for determining the design of PV installation configurations and the determination of control algorithms to match the load requirements. So that the electric energy produced can be maximized and the efficiency of PV can be increased. This paper describes a technique for monitoring PV parameters (current and voltage generated and temperature on PV) using wireless nRF24L01 as a communication device between PV and PC as host. PV parameter monitoring uses the ACS712 current sensor, the vol...
Solar photovoltaic (PV) farm output power is highly related to the panel conditions. Soiling causes faults in the PV panels leading to a drastic reduction in the system efficiency. In vast solar PV farms, the detection of faults in an individual PV panel is a difficult task since it is usually done manually. In this research, a new design is proposed to detect the production of individual PV panel automatically and periodically to evaluate the condition of each panel in the farm no matter how it is connected in the array. The proposed design allows the user to measure the open circuit voltage (VOC), the short circuit current (ISC) and the delivered power for each PV panel in the farm. It is also capable of controlling each panel to work at the maximum power point using a built in Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) sub-circuit on each solar panel. The presented system depicts a complete wireless sensor network, which does not need any extra wiring and is characterized by being of low cost, reliable and efficient.

Remote monitoring system for a set of Photo Voltaic (PV) panels, using a wireless sensor network WNS is our contribution in this work, we present a simulation interface for PV Panels. This research problem has been presented by Centre for Development of renewable Energies (CDER) technicians and operators in Algeria, in order to monitor and detect faults within solar panels which affect considerably the energy produced by the solar panels. A new solution is proposed to this problem based on installing WSN nodes with appropriate sensors for more often occurred faults on the solar power panels in Algeria. A simulation has been done on nodes distribution and a study for the design of a node with appropriate sensors taking into account the priorities of the processing faults. Finally a graphic user interface is designed and adapted to tele-monitoring panels using WSN. The primary results of simulation are very encouraging. A friendly GUI using high level language Wincc was developed to c...

2012 Sixth IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution: Latin America Conference and Exposition (T&D-LA), 2012
This paper describes the implementation of a wireless remote monitoring and control system of a solar photovoltaic distributed generator (PV-DG) for microgrids applications. To this aim, a small-scale PV-DG system is implemented using a 1.28 kWp assembly of PV polycrystalline modules connected to a single-phase utility grid through a commercial inverter. Then, a flexible, robust and reliable measurement and control system based on wireless sensor network (WSN) architecture is deployed. The wireless communication technology utilizes a full duplex digital system using the ZigBee protocol, based on the IEEE 802.
