A Sociolinguistic Analysis of Taboo Words in Bad Teacher Movie

The researcher investigated taboo words uttered by the characters in Bad Teacher movie using the sociolinguistics approach. The objective of this research was to identify the types and functions of taboo words uttered by the characters in the movie. This research is descriptive qualitative. In addition, this research also used the quantitative method to support the interpretation of data by presenting fixed percentages in the numerical form. The data were collected by selecting dialogues containing taboo words after watching the movie and matching the transcript with the video carefully. The primary instrument of this research was the researcher, while the secondary instrument was a data sheet. The results of the research were stated as follows. There were four types of taboo words found in the movie. They were obscenity, profanity, vulgarity, and epithet. Taboo words are cultural or religious custom that is not allowed to be used to someone else. However, taboo words are also found in daily conversation. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyze the types, function and meaning of taboo words found in the film. The data of this analysis were taken from a film entitled “Dirty Grandpa”. The data were collected through documentation method and note-taking technique. The data were descriptively analyzed based on the types, function and meaning of taboo words. The Use of Taboo Words in The Bad Boys II Movie

This research aims to analyze taboo words in Bad Boys II movie. The objective of this research is to identify the types of taboo words that are mostly found in the movie. The theory used in this research is Sociolinguistics by Wardhaugh, specifically types of taboo words. The methodology employed is qualitative approach with the researcher as the main instrument to collect the data in forms of dialogue from the movie by watching it repeatedly. The researcher analyzes and interprets the data based on the taboo words and its functions proposed by Wardhaugh. The findings of the research are dominated by bodily functions; followed by religious matters, and certain game animals, and they are aimed to provoke chaotic reaction.

This research aims at finding types of taboo words employed by the male- female characters in the film Fast and Furious 1 & Fast and Furious 7, and explaining how social class can affect the use of taboo words.This research is descriptive qualitative. The sources of the data are the films entitled Fast and Furious 1 & Fast and Furious 7 with the scripts. All of the utterances containing taboo words employed by the characters in the film entitled Fast and Furious 1 & Fast and Furious 7 are used as the data of the research. This research applies purposive sampling technique. There are 102 data containing taboo words found in 72 dialogues.In conducting the research, the researcher gains three findings. The aims of this research are to find and to discuss the types, functions of Taboo words and the types of Euphemisms. The qualitative method is used in this research since the description regarding the utterances found in the movie is necessary. The quantitative approach is used in this research as well in representing the data findings by using percentages. The research data are taken from the movie scripts and are formed from the characters’ utterances either words or phrases. This study was aimed at examining the use of swear word in the movies with different topics and characters. The objectives if this study were to find out the reasons of using swear word in the movies. This study was conducted by descriptive qualitative method. The source of data was transcript the movies. The data were identified, analyzed, and categorized based on L,jung ( 2012 ) theory. The technique of data collection was interactive model by Miles and Huberman ( 2014 ). The findings of the study showed that : 1. There are three ways of using swear words such as (1) interjection, (2) emphasizer, (3), expletive slot filler in each movies, but from all of that ways interjections is the most in each movies. 2. The reasons for using the swear words in the movies are psychological; and social movies.

In this research, the writer discusses the usage of taboo word and swear word in "Bank Acoount" song 21 Savage. The purpose of this study is to classify the types of taboo words. In this research, the writer uses content analysis method in analysing the taboo and swear words in "Bank Account" song. The procedures of the research are: first, watching the movie and finding the topics for the thesis. Second, after listening to the song, the researcher found the theory in the books and internet. Third, the researcher searched the lyrics of the song and then the classified the taboo words and swear words into tables. The last, after classifying and making the table, the writer disscussed and analysed the taboo words and swear words in "Bank Accont" song by 21 Savage. The result of this study is to show the types of taboo word and swear word that refers to informal language. There are three types of taboo word that found in "Bank Account" song: sexual activity, private parts of body, and Lavatory. Moreover, there are two types of swear word that found in "Bank Account" song such as strong swear word and weak swear word. Kind of strong swear word is only insult and the kind of weak swear word is insult also.
Types and Functions of Linguistic Taboos in Iranian Movies

The present study explored the linguistic taboos in the Iranian cinema. Twenty Iranian movies in a period of twenty years—1998 to 2018—comprised the main corpus of this study. The descriptive method was used in this sociolinguistic study to describe the conditions in the Iranian movies. To answer the research questions and analyze the data obtained on the types of taboo words, the framework provided by Andersson and Trudgill (1990) was first modified slightly and then applied to this research. All the three types of categories presented by Andersson and Trudgill, i.e., sex and bodily functions, sanctity, and animals with the absence of sex type were used in this research. Besides, the traces of five other types of death, morality, physical/mental problems, relatives, and unpleasant concepts were also found in the Iranian cinema.
