In India farmers have poor market infrastructure, inadequate marketing experience, and agricultural inputs. These farmers need to access information about new technologies before they can consider adopting them and thus look up to research and extension agents as sources of new technologies. Access to appropriate information and knowledge is an overriding factor for successful agricultural production and thus rural development. However, the traditional approach of providing agricultural information through extension services is overstretched and under-resourced. Accurate and timely market information, particularly of perishable items, can significantly reduce transaction and travel costs. Nowadays, the mobile apps have generated an opportunity for the farmers especially to get the information about marketing and weather. This important technology, they directly keep in touch with market personals and offer their produce with reasonable prices. The use of mobile apps also keep them aware for weather forecast for agriculture input application like fertilizer and pesticides which might be affected by unforeseen seen disasters as communicated by meteorological department. Based on above facts a study on the usage of mobile apps in agriculture was conducted. Two blocks namely Thogaimalai and Kulithalai were selected randomly in Karur District. The researcher found that farmers got more awareness about mobile apps. Through mobile apps they were getting agricultural and allied information on time. Many apps are being utilized for different kind of functionality regarding the farming activities like cropping information, pesticides, fertilizer, seed, selling of crop, irrigation information, estimation of crop production, weather information and information regarding the best practices of farming.
SURVEY OF ANDROID APPS FOR AGRICULTURE SECTOR
India is an agriculture based developing country. Information dissemination to the knowledge intensive agriculture sector is upgraded by mobile-enabled information services and rapid growth of mobile telephony. It bridge the gap between the availability of agricultural input and delivery of agricultural outputs and agriculture infrastructure. Mobile computing, cloud computing, machine learning and soft computing are the immerging techniques which are being used in almost all fields of research. Apart from this, they are also useful in our day-to-day activities such as education, medical and agriculture. This paper explores how Android Apps of agricultural services have impacted the farmers in their farming activities.
Comparative Study of Android-Based M-Apps for Farmers

M-Apps grow to be renowned feature of mobile phone. Farmers also getting solution to their farming problems with the help of the mobile applications. This paper highlights the mobile applications for agriculture, where architecture of mobile phone with its current trends and the most useful M-Apps related to agriculture market, soil description, weather information, and government schemes have been described in detail. In this paper, Android-based M-Apps act as foremost applications, where Arduino used as an external hardware kit for sensors. Comparison is based on the features provided by the developed M-Apps to the users. The benefits and drawbacks of developed M-Apps have also been discussed. The conclusion describes the most useful M-Apps and its further improvements.

This paper presents the mobile application for the farmers. Today, everyone is familiar with mobile devices. Nowadays farmers are facing problem due to inappropriate information available. Mobile is the new way through which farmers can easily get information through smartphones. Also include farmers and people from rural areas. Mobile plays an important role in the life of farmers as well as other people[21]. Farmers, who depended on clouds for rain, are now looking into the Android application for their solution towards the cultivation of crops in today's modern agricultural world. Mobile Appllication for Agricultural Crops

Farmers’ awareness on fast-moving developments in technologies affects the agriculture operations. Smartphones have been useful in agriculture for their mobility and accessibility. The mobile-based application for agricultural crops of Silang was designed to provide information about crops. Information includes health benefits of the fruits, uses of the crops, and how its different parts can be develop to another product. The application is the first step towards understanding the benefits of the byproducts of the crop in interactive way. The software development was anchored on agile model. The performance of the application was evaluated by 40 persons composed of subject matter experts including crops farmers and agriculturist, IT experts and potential users. The developed application was rated using Core App Quality Standard utilizing the criteria of Visual Design and User Interaction, Functionality, Compatibility, Performance and Stability, and Security. The app’s performance was adherent to the standard as verified by the app’s overall rating of excellent. The application will be able to help the crop farmer to get information in utilizing wastes into by-products, hence would be an opportunity to augment their income. It is recommended that the application may be added with crops available from other regions and consider a dynamic and cross-platform version of the app to maximize potential users.
Mobile technology for smart agriculture: deployment case for cocoa production

In order to maximise the quality and quantity of agricultural production, smart farming has become imperative where mobile technologies can be employed to access: real-time information on crop yields and soil-mapping, fertiliser application, weather data and intelligent assessment. However, in some economies, there is huge gap between agriculture production and the required supporting mobile technology. Thus, the goal of this research is to narrow this gap by proposing a smartphone application that facilitates intelligent real-time access to agronomic information. Specific to cocoa production in Ghana, our proposed research can aid farmers to use their smartphones to: 1) access agronomic information on cocoa management; 2) perform self-assessment of cocoa pod infestation; 3) perform stock analysis of their produce; 4) offers a crowd-sourcing forum for the farmers to discuss cocoa-related issues. The work received 96.88% strong satisfaction rating from the evaluated feedback collected from 32 cocoa producers who also said they will recommend it for community usage. Also, 87.50% of the test users find the developed app to be helpful and useful. Furthermore, 100% of the users expressed interest in using the app to better manage cocoa production.

In India most of the population is depending on agriculture and Farmer is the backbone of the Indian economy. The system consists of smartphone applications. The System can be used by farmers on the android application on mobile devices. The paper proposes the use of data mining to provide recommendations to farmers for crops, crop information, and identification of appropriate fertilizer. The smart-phone is used very commonly by everyone who is educated or non-educated. This application can provide different languages, which is Hindi and English this language commonly used and easy to use on the system.
A Survey on Mobile Applications for Smart Agriculture

The increasing global demand for food and nutrition security has raised the need to automate processes in modern farming. As such, a promising way to automate those processes is by using smart agriculture applications (SAAs). Different studies in the literature classify these applications based on agricultural themes, agricultural domains, and farming scenarios. However, this classification is not sufficient for researchers and industry to gain deeper insights on software engineering issues pertaining to SAAs. In this survey, we explore SAAs and further classify them based on architectural models, supported software engineering issues, and target mobile platforms. The survey results show that SAAs in general (1) follow different architectural models, (2) are targeted for different mobile platforms, and (3) satisfy different software engineering issues. Most importantly, the key findings from this study reveal that SAAs can fail to meet their intended purpose if developers ignore key software engineering issues. These findings can be used as a starting point for researchers and industry to implement smart agriculture related mobile applications.
