Society is an important element in the preservation of local wisdom values. Modernization, industrial society 4.0, and advances in information technology have had an impact on all aspects of people's lives. Foreign culture and values enter into people's lives and affect all their activities. Therefore, it is necessary to safeguard the values of local wisdom as a legacy of noble values. This study examines the role of the community in maintaining and maintaining the values of local wisdom in the midst of the times. Especially for the people of Bunaken Island which is one of the international tourist attractions. This study was designed using a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The aim is to examine the role of the people of Bunaken Island to maintain the sustainability of local wisdom. The results of the study showed that the community in Bunaken played a role in maintaining local wisdom through social and religious activities.

The urban development in Bali, especially Denpasar City, as the capital city of Bali Province, is growing fast in all sectors, leading to dynamic of city and creating some issues as well. Some aspects which have changed due to those developments are the growth of economics, the adequate of facilities and utilities, the comfort, the safety and the local wisdom of Balinese tradition as well. The local wisdom of Bali, as the cultural value system of Balinese tradition, is a solid reliability between culture and religion which becomes the root and the base of all Balinese community life. The existence of Balinese cultural value has been kept well, although some values are starting to change so far, it is not beyond the fundamental rules and meanings. In fact, the power of Balinese traditional sophistication value system is shaping the growth of Denpasar City. This article will explore the aspects of Balinese local wisdom values such as: Balinese traditional spatial pattern, traditional community and religion systems, also how those aspects have strongly generated the development of Denpasar city, especially on city spatial and land use. The study shows that existence of the local wisdom has signif icant factors in shaping urban patterns and structures and in providing limitations to the use of urban space.

Local wisdom is the lives values ​that enables people to live in harmony with other individual and their environment. An example of a place that still maintains this value is a traditional village. West Java has eight Traditional Villages, one of which is the Pulo, located in Garut Regency, where the environment is still very well preserved because the values ​​of local wisdom are applied in environmental management. Implementation of Local Wisdom Value in Arranging Tourism Objects of Balinese Traditional Settlements in Banjar Adat Belaluan, Singapadu Tengah Village, Sukawati District, Gianyar Regency, Bali Indonesia

Desa Singapadu Tengah is a traditional Balinese village in the Sukawati Subdistrict, Gianyar Regency, Bali which has long been known as one of the centers of sculpture industry and traditional Balinese ornaments. In the present, through the full support of the Gianyar Regency Government, this village began to develop itself into a tourist village. Of the five Banjar in its territory, the Belaluan Adat Banjar area has been plotted as a tourist attraction for traditional Balinese settlements. This is based on the magnitude of the potential of the cultural sector and traditional residential architecture that is still sustainable in this Banjar area. In the process of structuring these traditional settlement attractions, the village has applied many local wisdom values, and local traditions adapted to various stages, starting from the planning process, development to the management program. The description of this phenomenon has prompted the desire to conduct a study which aims to find out the existence of local wisdom values in the process of planning, building, and managing residential attractions in the area. This research is classified into qualitative research, where the study phase is done deductively. The results of the study show that Bali's local wisdom values have been adapted and applied in the planning, development, and management stages of tourist villages in the Belaluan region.

Is local wisdom able to build sustainable communities in informal flood-prone settlements? Evidence from Glintung Kampong, Malang City, Indonesia

This study aims to highlight innovative and sustainable measures in adaptation to climate change and the Covid-19 pandemic through integration into flood control efforts based on empirical data in Glintung Kampong, an informal flood-prone settlement in Indonesia and to explore what local wisdom values influence the success of the measures undertaken. This study was designed to use a mixed method combining qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data consists of in-depth interviews, observations, and desk studies. Quantitative data is used for the generalization of some qualitative data across a wider field. Forest destruction in Sumbawa is caused by Illegal Logging activities. Bandung Regency is one of the areas of West Java Province that is experiencing environmental damage problems caused by bad behavior in disposing of garbage, flooding, and the expansion of critical land. To overcome this problem, the Regent of Bandung initiated a development program by applying the values of local wisdom, which are called the values and spirit of 'Sabilulungan' as the power of social energy to motivate the community to participate in the program. This research explains how the application of 'Sabilulungan' local wisdom values has succeeded in overcoming environmental problems as well as the welfare of the affected communities. The Local Wisdom Study of Luan And Teben Concept on Balinese Ethnic Houses (Case Study: Balinese Ethnic Houses in Denpasar, Bali)

Balinese ethnic houses, contemporary luan and teben, luan and teben orientation, luan and teben zoning. Sanga Mandala is a concept that divide the layout of lowland Balinese house into nine zones. The intersection of two main axes, the ritual axis and the natural axis, forms the concept of Sanga Mandala. These axes have two poles called hulu/luan (mountain direction) and teben (sea direction). Along with times, the realization of Sanga Mandala in the form of buildings and zoning underwent a transformation in response to the increase in household members, modern mindset of the citizen, and tendency to follow contemporary trends. Changes to the zoning system that still follow the rules of traditional Balinese architecture are zones of sacred and ritual functions. With the development of modern mindset of the citizen, we can find those phenomena in Denpasar. This study aimed at examining the meaning of luan and teben on Balinese ethnic house layout in Denpasar. There is an interesting phenomenon that relates to the meaning of luan and teben in contemporary life. This study used interpretative naturalistic research method by emphasizing the empirical aspects of sensual, ethical, emic, logical, and transcendental. The results showed that there was a pattern of meaning on luan and teben in the conception of zoning, transformation of spaces and buildings, orientation of the building mass, as well as producing a pattern of meaning in zoning and ritual functions as the most important part in the residential space layout of Balinese ethnic houses in the midst of the development of Denpasar.

Local Wisdom as a Medium for the Existence of the Ancient Town of the City-Case Study: Kampong Lawas Maspati Surabaya

Abstract Surabaya is essentially a collection of villages, some of which have survived to the present day and some of which have not. This achievement was achieved through a variety of activities and also by giving themes based on the historical background of the village and village activities, such as Kampong Lawas Maspati, which had a heritage theme due to the presence of numerous ancient buildings. The objective of this study is to determine whether local knowledge enables the ancient village of Maspati to survive and thrive despite the development and pressure of urban advancement. This local knowledge is also an endeavor to conserve local knowledge, which can become a village's identity. The findings can serve as suggestions for the establishment of urban communities with a comparable history. In this study, a qualitative research method employing a case study methodology was utilized. As a sampling technique, snowball sampling is utilized. The purpose of the qualitative descriptive analysis was to provide an overview of the local wisdom of Kampong Lawas Maspati throughout its existence. Since time immemorial, the residents of Kampong Lawas Maspati have been driven by a passion for indigenous knowledge. The findings of this study are the utilization of ancient buildings (heritage) as places of business, such as terraces that are used as cafes, living rooms where souvenir crafts are displayed, and public open spaces, corridors, alleys, and front yards of houses for social, cultural, and economic activities by placing storefront or selling carts (rombong).
