Triple negative breast cancer (original) (raw)

Assessing direct costs of treating metastatic triple-negative breast cancer in the USA
Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research, 2021
Aim: Evaluation of monthly cost during metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC) treatment. Patients & methods: Retrospective electronic medical record review of US females aged ≥18 years diagnosed with mTNBC between 1 January 2010 and 31 January 2016. Mean monthly costs per patient were evaluated from start of mTNBC treatment until transfer to hospice, end of record or 3 months prior to death. Results: The mean monthly cost of first line was $21,908 for 505 treated patients; 50.2% of cost was attributable to hospitalization and emergency department visits, and 32.7% to anticancer therapy. Similar patterns were observed for subsequent lines of therapy. Conclusion: The majority of costs were attributable to hospitalization and emergency department services, suggesting a need for effective interventions to reduce utilization of costly services.
[Node negative breast cancer. Beyond international consensus: a pragmatic approach]
Bulletin du cancer, 2011
Apart from therapeutic advances related to new treatments, our practices in the management of early breast cancer have been modified by to key organizational settings (1) mass screening, substantially altering the presentation and epidemiology of breast cancer and (2) the development of guidelines to ensure that any patient management is in agreement with the demonstrated impact in the adjuvant treatment. In daily practice, the impact of screening and guidelines recommendations has put us now in a paradoxical situation: while the majority of non-metastatic breast cancers treated in the hexagon are node negative, most of the results of clinical studies on chemotherapy and targeted therapies today arise from populations predominantly node positive. Therefore, it seemed legitimate to convene a working group around a reflection on the directions of adjuvant chemotherapy in a growing node negative population in order to better respond to the questions of the field oncologists, trying to ...

[Breast cancer in men: about 40 cases and literature review]
The Pan African medical journal, 2017
Breast cancer in men is rare, accounting for approximately 1% of all breast cancers and less than 1% of all neoplasias in men. This study aimed to highlight the clinical histological, prognostic and therapeutic features of this rare tumor in order to contribute to improve the management of these patients. We conducted retrospective study of 40 patients whose data were collected at the Mohammed VI Center for Cancers Treatment in Casablanca from January 2000 to December 2012. The average age was 62 years, the mean consultation time was 12 months, self-exam of a peri-areolar nodul was the main reason for consultation in 90% of cases. Infiltrating ductal carcinoma was the predominant histological type in 90% of cases. Multimodal treatment was based on mastectomy followed by adjuvant therapy including chemotherapy, radiation therapy and/or hormonal therapy, depending on tumor stage and its histological features. The mean follow-up time was 38 months, patient's evolution was character...
[Malignant phyllodes tumor of the breast after Hodgkin's disease]
The Pan African medical journal, 2012

To analyze the characteristics and to establish prognosis factors for 52 men suffering from breast cancer from 1980 to 2004. Men treated for breast cancer (invasive or in situ). A retrospective study analyzed clinical and histological characteristics, and treatment procedures. The probability of survival or recurrence was calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Prognostic factors were studied using the Log Rank test. The mean age of our patients was 63.5 years old. In 73.1% of cases, subaerolar tumors were the initial symptoms, the average size was 30.31 mm. Among patients, 17 (32.7%) had T1, 19 (36.5%) T2, two (3.8%) T3 and 14 (26.9%) T4. The most represented histological type was the infiltrative ductal carcinoma (84.6%). The spread rate to axillary lymph nodes was 63.6%. The hormone dependency of these tumors was proven in 84.6% of cases. Overall survival rate were about 69% at five years and 32% at 10 years. The spread to lymph node and to derm, the clinical stage were signifi...
