The Competitive Advantage of Small Industry Batik

The effect of human capital and competitive advantage has empirically resulted in varied studies with regards to industry or service sectors as the object of the study. Human capital on one side directly affects the competitive advantage in addition to giving an effect to the competitive advantage mediated by organizational culture variable on the other side. Regarding this condition, this study aims to investigate the effect of organizational culture mediation towards the correlation between human capital and competitive advantage in small industry batik Trusmi. 200 batik makers located in Trusmi, Cirebon, Indonesia were selected as respondents of the study. They consisted of 131 males and 69 females dominantly age 41 to 60. Correlation and regression analysis were employed as methods of the study. It can be concluded based on the regression test on human capital and competitive advantage variables, and on the presence of organizational culture as mediator variable that there is a significant correlation between human capital and mediator variables (organizational culture), and competitive advantage variable altogether. It shows that there is no a direct effect of human capital variable toward competitive advantage variable.

The Performance Improvement of Batik Craftsmen-based on Organizational Culture, Work Motivation, and Work Satisfaction Factors

The Batik business unit, according to sub-department head of the handicraft and clothing industry, the ministry of industry and trade had 21.600 units in 2005. Meanwhile, in 2011, the units increased to 39.600 units. The rapid development of Batik forces the SMEs of Batik (small and medium-sized enterprises of Batik) to have a superior ability to compete with other Batik Craftsmen. This research aims to know the effect of organization culture on the motivation, the work satisfaction, and the worker's performance in Batik industry in Kampoeng Batik Laweyan Surakarta Indonesia. The samples utilized are 133 respondents. This research utilizes Structural Equation Modelling method with AMOS software. The data type and the data source are the primary data which was obtained by giving questionnaire to the employees of SMEs of Batik in Laweyan. The respondents include 79 men and 54 women. The employees of SMEs of Batik rage between the ages of 22-31 years old as many as 20 people, of 32-41 years old as many as 41 people, of 42-51 as many as 39 people, and the ages more than 51 years old as many as 33 people. The result shows that the organization culture variable affects the worker's performance variable, the motivation variable affects the worker's performance variable, and the work satisfaction variable affects the worker's performance variable.

Potential Management Development Of Batik Small-Medium Enterprise In Pilang Village, Sragen

The study was conducted in Batik Small-Medium Enterprise (Batik SMEs) in Pilang Village of Sragen Regency. Pilang village is one of the producers of Batik, it considerably contributes to the Batik market in Solo region. The study was aimed at finding out the condition and the potential of development through management comprising financial, human resource, marketing, and production management. The Descriptive quantitative method was employed, the respondents were ten SMEs Batik entrepreneurs. The study found that SMEs relied on traditional and limited financial management methods. It was also found that their marketing aspect had not adopted a modern marketing and promotion strategy. Their production has run well, however they face hindrances in product innovation and design with local characteristics. Then, human resource management also faced obstacles in on time delivery, creativity, and payment system.

: The study analyzes the role of Batik SME’s industrial environment based on Porter’s Five Competition Forces. Batik industry in Indonesia is a traditional craft industry and is done manually. Batik industry is one of the creative industries which obtain full attention from the Indonesian government. As a creative industry, batik is very dependent on the innovative products to survive in an increasingly intense competition. Batik industry is generally done by batik SMEs with very simple management. In terms of size, capital, organization and management, batik SMEs are not comparable with clothing companies like garment. However, batik SMEs is forced by the competitive business environment to produce innovative products and to attract buyers. It is estimated that Batik industry will experience increasing pressure with the entry of competitors from other ASEAN countries and China as a result of AFTA-China in 2015. Internal collaboration in SMEs is one element that is essential for batik SMEs. Collaboration involving actors from various parts of the SMEs often occur in informal relationships and are not realized by SME management. This article attempts to examine the patterns of the actor's relationship in batik SMEs taking place in Windasari batik SME. Windasari batik SME is one of big SMEs in Sragen. This study employs saturation sampling technique for collecting data from almost all employees in Windasari batik SME. The data is analyzed using Social Network Analysis applications. The results of this study suggest that the relationships between actors in Windasari batik SME are weak and heavily dependent on just a few specific actoractors as an intermediary in making contact. Of course, these patterns of relationships are not so supportive for the efforts towards a good and effective collaboration.

Implementation of the business incubation program as an effort to accelerate the improvement of the quality of human resources in small and medium industries

This research was conducted with the aim of improving and strengthening the quality of existing Human Resources in developing Small and Medium Industries (IKM), namely in the batik industry in Jatipelem Village, Diwek District, Jombang Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The main problems found in this study are the absence of special design characteristics for Jatipelem batik, a lack of understanding of the concept of organizational management, a lack of capital for SMEs, the role of batik associations is not optimal, and digital sales are not optimal. The results of the study show that training and mentoring programs are needed in order to improve the quality of existing human resources, which include batik product design training, organizational management training, Business Model Canvas (BMC) training, IKM financial training, and digital marketing training.

Strengthening the Internal Factors of Batik Cluster SMEs in Indonesia: A Case of Six Districts in South - Central Java

The aim of this study was to identify the internal factors that limit the growth and the success of Batik Cluster SMEs in South District of Central Java and to suggest recommendations for addressing such factors. This study uses qualitative research method. In-depth interviews have been performed, which included participant from six batik SMEs and from six officials representing six organizations in the six districts of south part of Central Java. Effect Of Company Resources And Capabilities Of The Company's Performance Sme’s In East Java Batik

This research aims to explain the effect of company resources and capabilities on company performance. This study uses a quantitative approach with a population of 120 batik SME’s and sampling using the Slovin formula with a total of 92 batik SME’s in East Java. Data analysis using linear regression. The results showed that the variable company resources had a significant effect on company performance with a t value of 2.7 and capability had a significant effect on company performance with a t value of 2.2. The originality of this study measures the company's performance from a separate resource and capability perspective in batik SME’s in East Java.

Empowerment Management Model of Batik Craftsman Entrepreneurship Development

The Batik is a craft community that has been the identity, uniqueness, and culture riches that needs to be preserved. The study aims to create empowerment management model of batik craftsmen entrepreneurship development. The study and analysis used Research and Development methods. Data is collected through observation, deep interview, and documentation. The informant has been decided by purposive sampling, namely batik craftsmen, high school student as a generation of batik and batik observers. The research location in Susukan, Banjarneara district of Central Java Province at Indonesia. The results showed that (1) The lack of young generation of batik craftsmen, thus it requires development management through community empowerment of younger generation to preserve local cultural riches. (3) The empowerment management could be designed comprehensively and continuously by involving all parties namely the community, government, universities and private parties.
