2023, Note di alcuni frati di Santa Croce nei margini del Plut. 15 dex. 6 della Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana di Firenze. Un aggiornamento francescano e fiorentino al «Martirologio» di Adone di Vienne

This paper aims to analyse the marginal notes of a well-known twelfth-century manuscript, Florence, Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana, Plut. 15 dex. 6, from the Franciscan convent of Santa Croce. After a brief reconstruction of the tradition of the Martyrologium by Ado of Vienne, the authors offer a short survey on the history of this manuscript (which bears one of oldest poetic text in the Italian vernacular, the so called Ritmo Laurenziano) until his arrival to the Franciscan cloister, around 1307. In Santa Croce it was read and annotated by some friars within the first quarter of the century. The friars were interested in updating the calendar in many ways, by adding saints from other traditions. Among the marginal notes, some additions are intended to update the martyrology from a Florentine point of view. Albeit the manuscript was acquired for the use of Illumanato de’ Caponsacchi, it is not possible to identify his hand in any of the readers’ glossae, on the basis of the comparison with other notes ad usum.
