Ideology of the News Text of TvOne A Study of Critical Discourse Analysis (Proceedings)
Television is a tool to convey the ideology of the television owners. This is reasonable because behind a text circulating in the community has always a hidden agenda of the social structure. In the point of view of critical discourse analysis, language is not neutral but it always carries a particular ideological message. There is always a hidden message on any news program aired by tvOne (one of the national televisions in Indonesia). tvOne and PT Lapindo is owned by a same person, Aburizal Bakrie. People see that the cause of Sidoarjo mud is Lapindo drilling. It’s understandable when people will assume that tvOne uses its news program to counter this issue. The objective of the study was to know the ideology of the news text of tvOne. This study employed a qualitative descriptive study using the model of Fairclough’s CDA. The data of the study was the text of news about politics. The sources of data were from the news program aired by tvOne. The conclusion of the study is the ideology found in the text are: (1) Sidoarjo mud is not caused by PT Lapindo Brantas drilling, (2) Sidoarjo mud is a natural disaster, (3) the correct information is if it comes from a trusted scientific sources.

A Critical Discourse Analysis of News Report Framing in Analisa and Sumut Pos Newspaper

The current article provides a Critical Discourse Analysis (Forth, CDA) of news report of Corruption Eradication Commission (Forth, KPK). The same topic was reported in two different newspapers such as Analisa and Sumut Pos newspaper and was published on Sunday, 15th December 2014. Analisa and Sumut Pos newspaper are Local newspapers in Medan. The present study is done by using CDA perspective in order to explore the scope and nature of the two newspapers’ ideologies, for instance, to support or against the group of people or institution and how the reporters’ intervention is used in framing the news stories to make readers understand them in the way by the producer of the text. This study is aimed to describe the diction that used in some selected texts from some mass media; Sabili Magazine(SM), Media Umat Monthly News (MU), and Suara Hidayatullah Magazine ( SHM). The analysis of the diction in the texts is categorized into two mai n features: (1) the diction used to criticize, to blame, and to scold the repressive and discriminative agents (2) the dictio n used to describe, to report the suffering of the victims. This research uses qualitative method, a critical discourse analysis ap proach, by Fowler model and the theory of diction. The analysis is focused on the variation of diction in the news texts. The study found that the three Islamic media applied the same feature in advocating their news but they used the different variations of diction. From the analysis, we can conclude that the advocating news of those three Islamic media utilize two variations of diction, i.e. a good style and a bad style. This study aimed to reveal the ideological construction of news reports on DBL, a renown student’s basketball league, East Java Series in Jawa Pos. Applying qualitative approach in a bid to understand how the media delivered ideology through news report about DBL East Java Series, the data of this study were obtained from Jawa Pos newspaper in May and June 2012. Critical Discourse Analysis proposed by Van Dijk which is also known as socio cognitive approach, which is based on three levels Textual Analysis, Social Cognition and Societal Analysis, is the main theory of this study. Using qualitative approach and purposive sampling, the writer found the theme of the news reports in Jawa Pos, and revealed the social cognition of the news since mental awareness of the journalist affected news making. A CDA of the Ideology of Indonesian Metrotv News Report

In the point of view of critical discourse analysis, language is not neutral but it always carries a particular ideological message. There is always a hidden message on any news program broadcasted by MetroTV. The objective of this study was to know the ideology of the news text of MetroTV. This study employed a qualitative descriptive study using the model of Fairclough’s CDA. The data of the study was the news text about mudflow in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. Based on the research findings, it is concluded that MetroTV does not only provide any information about the events in Indonesia, but it also develops an ideology. The ideologies of MetroTV news texts are: 1) the mudflow in Sidoarjo Indonesia is not a natural disaster, 2) the cause of mudflow was human error (gas drilling conducted by Lapindo incorporation), 3) Lapindo should be responsible, while the state should not use public money for mudflow handling, 4) the impact of the mudflow are: destroying the environment and the lives of citizens, harming people economically, socially as well as culturally, and making people miserable, 5) the mudflow victims do demonstration to show their disappointment, and 6) the compensation and the realization of the responsibility of Lapindo incorporation disappointing. The finding of this study reveals that Indonesian MetroTV develops the ideology by applying the strategies of “emphasize their bad things” and “de-emphasize their good things.

The study aims to examine the ideological representations that appear in the news in the media. The analysis of this research uses the CDA Van Dijk concept. The data of this research is the news entitled “DKI Mengklaim Perluasan Ancol untuk Publik” published in TEMPO Newspaper, Monday July 6, 2020. From the analysis, this news shows support for the reclamation policy of the Ancol area of the DKI Jakarta Government. The discourse, constructed by television as one of the mass media, is capable of directing the life of the nation through the news report program broadcasted. TVONE news report presents the same topic about the tragedy in Sidoarjo mud using their perspectives. By relying on the choice of words, the texts makers may intentionally lead public opinion to follow their understanding and “mission”. TVONE constantly uses phrases Sidoarjo mud.
