Economic growth becomes one indicator that increases the welfare of a nation. Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have a very strategic role in economic development in Indonesia especially in Malang. Zakat institution is one of the instruments in Islam that provide a forum for society to allocate their wealth. Through this institution, the economic empowerment of people can assist in reducing the amount of poverty and provide education to the lower-middle-class society to become entrepreneurs. The objective of this research is to find the role of productive zakat fund in the development of SMEs through the management process in the form of collection, distribution, and utilization by LAZIZMU Malang. The type of this research is qualitative and the research approach uses descriptive analysis.
