C. S. Lewis: His Life , Works, and Legacy (2014) (original) (raw)

2014, Final Paper: Apologetics (Lincoln Christian University)

I was introduced to C. S. Lewis by my father in April 2003. At a moment of extreme challenge as a cross-cultural mission practitioner, he gave me a copy of Mere Christianity (1953) with this dedication, "I know that you are reading and thinking and searching. This book has helped a whole lot of people to keep the FAITH. In our times, we will not survive if we are not grounded in the Lord. He is the Way, the TRUTH and the Life!!! C. S. Lewis speaks to the heart and the mind. Happy Birthday. I love you, Dad." I was overjoyed to be presented with this opportunity to immerse myself in the works of this man who so deeply impacted my spiritual life at a crucial moment. As I have continued to deepen my knowledge of the life and writings of Lewis, I have developed an even more profound appreciation of Lewis. I will attempt to put into words what I have observed in his life, writings, and legacy.
