This article is the result of the research project called " Entre Trapiches, Trilhas e Vilas: Organização Comunitária e Práticas Sustentáveis no Distrito de Mosqueiro, PA/Brasil," reports the interdisciplinary experiences of teachers and learners of the Faculdades Integradas Ipiranga in the community of Caruaru, located on the island of Mosqueiro, District of Belém of Pará. Adopting procedures for participant research, notes of field work, the application of questionnaires, filming and workshops along the islanders which were possible identify environmental profile focusing on, local knowledge, gender relations and kinship, life subsistence activities, the important role of the schoolarship and proposals for community-based tourism routing to Caruaru. Tends as emphasis the research action that resulted in a larger interaction with the community, centered in the mediation among School, Association of Residents of Caruaru (ASMOCA) and no-associated residents.
