The year that the Ministry of Education gave “one instrument per child”: theory and practice of equal access to music education (original) (raw)

Equal access to music education depends on many factors, such as accessibility to re-sources, cultural context, curriculum and teaching methodology, administrative and or-ganizational support, but also parameters related to the human factor within the school, i.e., students and teachers. In this article we study the issue of the availability of musi-cal instruments and educational aids in an equal way, for every child, as a parameter of equal access to music education. We are based to an activity within the framework of the program “One Instrument Per Child”, during the pandemic, which is a continuation of research within the framework of doctoral research in the period 2010-2020. The results of the research, in addition to issues of music education, also highlighted other pedagogic issues related to the opinions and beliefs of the students and the effects of these opinions and beliefs on the cognitive and emotional development of them.
