Hoya anulata (Apocynaceae: Asclepiadoideae) : a new record in Maluku, Indonesia (original) (raw)

Two new species of Hoya (Apocynaceae, Asclepiadoideae) from Sulawesi, Indonesia

Taiwania, 2020

We document the discovery of two new species of Hoya from Sulawesi, Indonesia, H. sulawesiana S.Rahayu & Rodda and Hoya surisana Rodda & S.Rahayu. Hoya sulawesiana is similar to Hoya isabelchanae Rodda & Simonsson in flower morphology because both species have very pubescent globose corolla but they can be separated based on leaf morphology and corolla indumentum type. Hoya surisana is very unusual because its flowers display a combination of large calyx lobes, a white, pubescent, campanulate corolla, and dark purple corona lobes so far not observed in any other species of the genus.

Two new species of Hoya R.Br. (Apocynaceae, Asclepiadoideae) from Borneo

PhytoKeys, 2015

Two new Hoya R.Br. species from Borneo are described and illustrated. The first, Hoya ruthiae Rodda was collected in Sabah on Bukit Baturong, a limestone outcrop. It is one of the few species in the genus to have clear exudate. It is compared with the morphologically related Hoya uncinata Teijsm. and Binn. The other, Hoya bakoensis Rodda, was collected in the kerangas forests of Bako National Park. It belongs to Hoya section Acanthostemma (Bl.) Kloppenb., a section with numerous members in the Philippines but under-represented in Borneo.

Hoya fauziana ssp. angulata (Apocynaceae, Asclepiadoideae), a new subspecies from Borneo and Sumatra

Blumea - Biodiversity, Evolution and Biogeography of Plants

A new Hoya subspecies from Borneo and Sumatra, Hoya fauziana ssp. angulata is described and illustrated. Both subspecies of Hoya fauziana have long lanceolate leaves, pubescent corollas and prominent ovoid corona lobes. They can be separated by the orientation of the pedicels (straight in H. fauziana ssp. fauziana and angled in H. fauziana ssp. angulata) and the type and position of pubescence of the corolla (tube and lobes pubescent with evident sericeous hairs in H. fauziana ssp. fauziana vs only tube finely pubescent in H. fauziana ssp. angulata).

Hoya of the Philippines part I. Hoya migueldavidii (Apocynaceae, Asclepiadoideae), a new species from Northern Mindanao, Philippines

PhytoKeys

A new species of Hoya R.Br. from Mindanao (Philippines), Hoya migueldavidii Cabactulan, Rodda & Pimentel, is described and illustrated. It is a member of Hoya section Acanthostemma (Blume) Kloppenb. that is particularly speciose in the Philippines. It is compared with the similar Hoya loheri Kloppenb, also endemic of the Philippines, from which it differs in indumentum of the vegetative parts (pubescent vs. glabrous), the shape of the corolla (almost spherical vs. partly flattened) and the type of gynostegium (not stipitate vs. stipitate)

Hoya Decipulae (Apocynaceae, Asclepiadoideae), a New Species from Sumatra

REINWARDTIA, 2019

RAHAYU, S. & ASTUTI, I. P. 2018. Hoya decipulae (Apocynaceae, Asclepiadoideae), a new species from Sumatra, Indonesia. Reinwardtia 18(1): 61‒67. ‒‒ The new Hoya species from Sumatra, Hoya decipulae S.Rahayu & Astuti is here described and illustrated. It is an epiphytic shrub, thin-leaved with white flowers, similar to those of H. papaschonii Rodda, but differs in corolla and corona form. Its corolla has a unique characteristic of forming a “cage” before fully opening, as a result of the attachment of the five corolla tips which are free at the centre. The corona does not have interstaminal lobes as in Hoya papaschonii. Its corona resembles that of H. multiflora Blume and H. irisae Ferreras, Kloppenburg & Tandang from the centre to the tip but differs at the base.

A new species of Hoya R.Br. (Apocynaceae, Asclepiadoideae) from the Philippines

PhytoKeys

Hoya medusa M.D.De Leon, Cabactulan, Cuerdo & Rodda, sp. nov. (Apocynaceae, Asclepiadoideae) is described from the Philippines. Even though numerous taxa with a shrubby habit from this area are known, it can be immediately separated because of its urceolate corolla and prominent elongated corona lobes. No other species in the genus possesses such a combination of characters.

The taxonomy of Hoya micrantha and Hoya revoluta (Apocynaceae, Asclepiadoideae)

Webbia, 2013

Hoya revoluta, Hoya micrantha, and their synonyms are typified and revised. Hoya plicata, currently a synonym of H. micrantha, is reinstated and applied to a taxon from montane forests of Peninsular Malaysia; Hoya rundumensis is proposed to replace Hoya plicata subsp. rundumensis, a Bornean endemic; Hoya inconspicua is separated once again from Hoya revoluta; a new species, Hoya beccarii, is recognised and described.

Taxonomic revision of the Hoya mindorensis complex (Apocynaceae:-Asclepiadoideae

The Hoya mindorensis complex is revised, types for the names involved are selected, and a new classification of the taxa is proposed. Hoya erythrostemma is separated once again from Hoya mindorensis, Hoya elmeri is identified as an earlier name for Hoya mindorensis subsp. superba, and a further new species, Hoya rintzii, from Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo, is described. A key is provided as an aid to identification.
