Although the reforms aimed at saving the state in the recent periods of the Ottoman State did not prevent the demolition of the state, a generation grew up in the innovations and questioned the reasons of the demolition of the country. A part of this generation was lost in the wars between 1912-1922. The military and the civilians who did not lose hope and succeeded in establishing a new independent Turkish state were thinking about the rise and empowerment of the newly established state on solid bases. Due to political, social and historical conditions of the time, this generation has had to turn from the multinational concept of the state to the understanding of the national state. In this period when the living woes are still fresh, the new state established by bloodshed showed a very jealous protection response. In the last period of the Ottoman period, the discussions in the field of education to save the state turned into discussions on what kind of education should be given to strengthen the Republic after the foundation of the Republic. Naturally, the education debate for the Turkish nation, which is the founding element of the Ottoman Empire and succeeded in establishing a new state from the wreckage of the Ottoman Empire, was taken up in the context of national education. As a matter of fact, Ali Haydar (Taner), who had been trained in psychology, contributed to his search for a national education system by his work named National Terbiye. This work, which is the main topic of the report, has been examined within the conditions of the period and examined from a historical point of view.
