Mafia, State, Market: Mafia Habitus between Democracy Crisis and new Spirit of Capitalism. The crisis of the Western liberal democracies, due to the inability of nation-states and national political classes to cope with socioeconomic problems increasingly global and beyond their control, and the new "liquid" configuration of Capitalism, as was defined by Zygmunt Baumann, assigned to the Italian and the other Mafia-type organizations a new central position in the economy and the society, both locally and globally. The precariousness of the labour market, the high rates of unemployment, the difficulty in accessing credit, the expulsion of millions of people of the middle classes in a state of increasing marginalization and social hardship, and the impossibility of enforcing their rights due to the inefficiency of public administration, are just some of the reasons for the social legitimacy used by mafias in terms of consensus in the political arena, polluting democracy and occupying more territories outside of their original contexts of settlement, with the creation of real "mafia enclaves". On the economic level, the range of cheap services legal and illegal they offering, in addition to the huge amount of money available, make mafia companies particularly interesting to legal firms, which are always looking for a simple way to multiply profits and reduce costs. The new configuration of the network companies and the practice of outsourcing also made more easy for mafia firm to access in larger companies without suspects. This spread of mafia organizations, mainly due to the " grey area " , produces serious distortions in States democratic process and pollutes the Market, but more important it produces a spread of Mafia Habitus even among those who are not criminals.
