The current educational system has failed to effectively guide young individuals and lacks the provision of enough possibilities for their comprehensive development, hindering their ability to become self-sufficient. In contemporary times, students are successfully completing tests and obtaining their degrees with distinctions or better classifications. However, a significant proportion of these individuals encounter difficulties in achieving self-sufficiency and are illequipped to confront various problems. In order to address this circumstance, it is imperative to consider the implementation of an educational approach that was advocated by Mahatma Gandhi, often referred to as 'Basic Education' or 'Nai-Talim'. Gandhi recognized that the provision of basic education had a crucial role in addressing the prevailing structural and socioeconomic disparities. The aforementioned approach served as a remedy for several societal issues and challenges in India. His concept on primary education not only brought about a transformation in the educational framework of India, but also spearheaded a significant societal upheaval. The objective of this study is to comprehensively examine and evaluate the fundamental concepts of Mahatma Gandhi's views on education, as derived from an analysis of his many written works. This text discusses the significant characteristics of Gandhiji's basic education system and compares it to the current education system.
