An Action Research Study on Improving Seventh Standard Students’ Creative Writing Skill in English

One of the most vital elements of education and literacy is Language. Learning a language is similar to swimming and riding a bicycle. Thus the present action research is aimed to improve the writing skill of the 7 th standard students creatively in an Elementary school. A total sample of 15 students' from the same grade was chosen for the study. The baseline assessment was carried out to explore the pre-intervention writing skill score of the students prior to the intervention cycle. Later, intervention and writing skill support strategies were carried out for six weeks. In the end, post-test was carried out to explore the differences between the pre-and post-test score of the students. The finding of the present work is suggested that writing skill of the students has been increased up to a satisfactory level. The creativeness of the writing skill was also increased.

To Enhance Students ’ Creative Writing

Writing is often assumed as uneasy skill to either learn or teach. For students, they find it difficult to develop ideas in writing. On the other hand, teachers, many of them, only ready with the materials but confuse with the appropriate ways to teach. This paper intends to describe and discuss a method of teaching writing namely writing workshop to improve students ’ writing skill through travel writing. Writing workshop proposed by Calkins that consists of mini lesson, work time, peer conferring and/or response groups, share sessions, and publication celebration is applied in writing class for methodological purposes. In mini lesson, teacher offers something to the class that is meant to introduce a writing strategy done at the beginning of the workshop. Action Research to Improve the Teaching of English Creative Writing at Primary Level

The research was conducted to explore the improvements in the teaching of creative writing in English through action research. The objectives of the study were: to implement strategies to solve problems of teaching creative writing in English through action research, to examine the impact of those strategies on the teaching of creative writing through action research and to recommend strategies for using in the teaching of creative writing in English. Action research approach was used for this purpose. One Section of the 5 th grade and its English teacher was selected from an F. G. Girls primary School in Rawalpindi as a sample. According to the spiral of action research, the methodology involved was plan, act, observe, reflect, revised plan, act, observe and reflect. Observational Checklist and structured interview from teacher was used as a tool to collect the data for the research. The results showed that this approach brought positive improvements in the teaching of the creative writing in English. It was concluded that this approach can be used to improve the professional development of the English language teachers. It was recommended that teachers should be empowered to adopt this approach in their future classroom practices. Moreover, they should be provided with opportunities to implement their planning related to the improvements of educational system by practicing action research as practitioners.

The Implementation of Creative Learning Models in Teaching Writing in Junior High School

Creative learning is a learning process that requires teachers to motivate and bring up the students creativity, both in the context of creative thinking and in the context of creative in doing things during the learning process, using a variety of learning methods and strategies, such as group work, problem solving, and so on. ENHANCING STUDENTS' CREATIVE WRITING SKILLS: AN ACTION RESEARCH PROJECT

This research aimed to improve written expression (composition) skills of 5th grade students of an elite private school. The research was designed under the paradigm of action research. A total sample of 39 students' from the same grade was chosen for the study. The baseline assessment was carried out to explore the pre-intervention writing skill score of the students prior to the intervention cycle one. Later, intervention and writing skill support strategies were carried out for eight weeks. In the end, post-test was carried out to explore the differences occurred in the writing score of the students as a post intervention effect. The findings obtained from the quantitative data showed the improvement in the written expression skills of the students. It was observed that through taking the above mentioned measures, the teachers can help students improve their writing skills.

The Effect of Creative Writing Activities on Elementary School Students' Creative Writing Achievement, Writing Attitude and Motivation

Writing skills have a tendency to lose their importance day by day. In addition, writing studies with a product-based approach discourage students from writing. In teaching mother tongue, creative writing activities, considered as process-based writing approach, are among the ones that will make students feel like writing and regard writing as a need. Writing, reviewing, and sharing the stages of the process-based writing approach are included in the Turkish Course Curriculum (MEB, 2018) starting from the 1 st grade. This study aims to examine the effects of creative writing activities on native Turkish-speaking students' creative writing achievement, writing attitudes and motivation in learning their mother tongue. The study employed one-group pretest-posttest experimental design. The sample of the study was formed by a total of 630 students from first, second, third and fourth grades. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation and t-test results and "Evaluation Criteria Form for Creative Writing" (Susar Kırmızı, 2008) were used in order for the analysis of the data. The results revealed that creative writing activities have a positive effect on students' creative writing achievement, writing attitude and motivation.

Increasing The Students' Writing

This script discusses the increasing students' ability through brainstorming technique in teaching writing, especially in increasing students' writing narrative text ability. This study is aimed at responding the following questions: (1) Can brainstorming as a technique increase the students' Narrative paragraph writing Performance? (2) Can brainstorming as a technique improve the learning process?. The population of this research is the eighth grader of SMPN 3 Batanghari Nuban. The number of population is 152 students. The researcher used sampling random technique to take sample. The research design was Classroom Action Research design. The instrument used to collect data was writing test because the students' scores can be the basic data. The finding result shows that: (1) Brainstorming technique can make good students' score in writing narrative text ability.
