Transcriptional Repression of Peroxisome Proliferator-activated Receptor  /  in Murine Keratinocytes by CCAAT/Enhancer-binding Proteins (original) (raw)

The interaction between peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) and CCAAT/enhancer-binding proteins (C/EBPs) plays a vital role in keratinocyte differentiation. This study reveals that C/EBPα and C/EBPβ inhibit the expression of PPARβ in murine keratinocytes by recruiting a transcriptional repressor complex involving HDAC-1 to the PPARβ promoter. The work underscores the regulatory balance between PPARβ and C/EBP transcription factors, which is crucial for understanding the mechanisms that control cell proliferation and differentiation in skin.
