Comparison of Topologies of Shunt Active Power Filter Implemented on Three Phase Four-Wire System
2011
Supply of uninterrupted sinusoidal voltage of constant magnitude is the most important aim of the electric al distribution system, but this task is very tough an d is becoming more difficult due to the increasing size and numbe r of nonlinear and poor power factor loads. Some of the most important causes of poor power quality is harmonics and high neutral current. Harmonics and neutral current deteriorate power quality as well as affect the system at large and m akes significant impact. In this paper a control scheme based on PI controller has been proposed for generation of refe rence current to mitigate the harmonics and neutral current for two different topologies. The proposed methodology not only reduces the complexity but also offers simplicity t o implement and increases reliability of the system. Analysis a nd simulation of three phase four wire shunt active power filter under balanced and unbalanced load condition have been done using MATLAB/ SIMULINK and detailed simulatio...
This paper presents a application of PSO to Hybrid active power filter used to compensate for total harmonic distortion in three-phase four-wire systems. The shunt active filter employs a simple method for the calculation of the reference compensation current based on Fast Fourier Transform. The presented Shunt Active Power filter is able to operate in balanced, unbalanced and Variable load conditions. Classic filters may not have satisfactory performance in fast varying conditions. But auto tuned active power filter gives better results for harmonic minimization, reactive power compensation and power factor improvement. The proposed auto tuned shunt active filter maintains the THD well within IEEE-519 standards. The proposed methodology is extensively tested for wide range of different Loads with Improved dynamic behavior of shunt active power filter using PSO to Hybrid active power filter. The results are found to be quite satisfactory to mitigate harmonic Distortions, reactive power compensation and power factor correction thereby increase in Power Quality improvement and reduction in %THD.
This paper presents a new control strategy for parallel active filters. The instantaneous positive sequence extraction of load current and utility voltage is combined with the p q theory. This method is able to control a four leg active filter for compensation of reactive power, current harmonics, three-phase imbalance and neutral current cancellation simultaneously in 3-phase 4-wire distribution systems. The presented method can operate in harmonic polluted and/or imbalance utility voltage case. The simulation results prove the considerable ability of control strategy to suppress the above-mentioned subjects with a very fast dynamic response. This method is usable in 3-wire systems, too.
Performance Analysis of three phases three wire Series Active Power Filter
2013
479 Abstract— the aim of this paper is to investigate and study the performance analysis of the three phase three wire series active power filter. Auto-tuned filters give a better performance for harmonic mitigation, reactive power compensation and power factor correction as compared to the classic filters. This paper presents the simulation analysis to reduce the harmonic in the output voltage to improve the power quality.
