Interleaver Design Consideration for IDMA in Optical Environment (original) (raw)

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2014

Abstract

Optical fiber networking is the central solution for long distance, high capacity transmission system since optical fiber has very wide capacity, low loss and low power. To fully employ the single mode optical fiber various multiple Access techniques like-wavelength division multiple access (WDMA), optical time division multiple access (OTDMA) and optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) can be used. But with the need of faster and more reliable transmission an appropriate multiple accesses technique is required to share this vast bandwidth. Interleave division multiple access technique (IDMA) is the best solution. The Performance of IDMA is based on interleave so Interleave design issue should be taken seriously. If any interleaves satisfy the following two criteria, it will achieve the practicality- 1) the interleave is easy to generate if the transmitter and receiver need not to communicate many bits in order to agree upon an interleave, and 2) interleaves should be orthogonal.
