Anodal stimulation of primary motor cortex in elderly women with fibromyalgia: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (original) (raw)

This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluated the efficacy of anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on pain intensity in elderly women with fibromyalgia (FM). Fifty participants aged 55 to 74 received either real tDCS or sham stimulation with assessments conducted before treatment and 30 days post-intervention. Results indicated a significant reduction in pain for the tDCS group compared to the sham group, demonstrating its potential as an effective non-invasive treatment for pain management in this demographic.
