The new people generation Z can be viewed in terms of software engineering as specific users who have high requirements regarding the functions and interface of the software applications, connectivity to social networks and instant communication via the Internet. In recent years, the number of electronic learning systems increased, but students are still not motivated to learn. This requires developing new conceptual models of training and learning software, tailored to the skills and preferences of the end-users. The young students: from kindergartens to preschools and primary schools are special users who have not been studied exhaustively. To present the problem related to the development of learning and training software thoroughly, the most commonly used standards and current trends, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of LMS platforms have been reviewed. The commonly used software design and development technologies have been discussed. We proposed a strategy for developing a web-based e-learning management system according to the possibilities of young pupils as a specific user. We described a software architecture, based on SCORM's specification, and we developed an LMS prototype. The basic methodology used in the design and creation of the system we propose is user-centered design.

The lifestyle of the new people generation, called in the scientific literature Generation Z, is closely related to the Internet, computer and information technology. Therefore, people and children belonging to this group can be viewed in terms of software technology as specific users who have high requirements regarding the functions and interface of the software applications, connectivity to social networks and instant communication via the Internet. This influenced not only on the teaching and learning methods but also on the software applications used in the learning process. In recent years, new theoretical teaching methods have emerged, and the number of electronic learning systems increased. However, students lack motivation for the learning process. This requires developing new conceptual models of training and learning software, tailored to the skills and preferences of the end-users. The young students up to 12 years of age: from kindergartens to preschools and primary schools are special users who have not been studied exhaustively. To present the problem related to the development of learning and training software thoroughly, the most commonly used standards and current trends, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of LMS platforms have been reviewed. Attention is drawn to the commonly used software design and development technologies. This is the reason to propose a strategy for developing a web-based e-learning management system according to the possibilities of young pupils as a specific user. Having in mind this strategy we described a software architecture, based on SCORM's specification, and we developed an LMS prototype. Its design was tailored to the skills of young children. The basic methodology used in the design and creation of the system we propose is user-centred design. The document is intended for developers, educators and scientists, studying child-computer interaction.
The Analysis of a Learning Management System from a Design and Development Perspective

The use of information technology as a means of educating students has become a popular trend. For this purpose, a special type of content management system was used, called learning management systems (LMS) and course management systems (CMS). Often all of these platforms offer similar features and users cannot choose the one that best suits them. This article proposes an analysis of the usability and functionality of software in LMS frameworks. Based on the integration of parallel work on the same database, you can automatically synchronize and manage accounts, users, sessions, and distribute (session and user) easily. There is no need to manually enter data in two different systems. This increases the value of the learning management system used by improving time and accuracy. By first, reducing the time creating learning materials within the LMS. Second, the accuracy in creating the learning materials within the LMS. Third: Accuracy in distributing students and teachers to the course. Fourth, configure the class room inside the LMS that matches the CMS one hundred percent. It includes subjects, departments, faculties and users (students and teachers). The contribution of this paper provides a rich recent direction of software methodologies for web-based learning management systems from a design and development perspective.
Lessons Learned from the Design Process of a Learning Management System
Distance education has been spreading throughout the world especially with the increase in ICT. Learning Management System (LMS) is one of the most important dimensions of this educational model. LMS is a software application used for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting and delivery of the course content. This study will introduce the design process of LMS that was developed by Yildiz Technical University. Based on the lessons learned during and after the design of LMS, it is concluded that users are one of the most important assets of LMS for the improvement of these systems.

Learning is the act of acquiring knowledge or skill through study. In order to survive in this ever evolving universe, one is expected to acquire various survival skills and thus improve himself to become a better individual. There is the need for every child to be educated. It has been realized that learning can be more fun and of greater value outside the traditional four walls of a classroom. With software such as the Learning Management System (LMS), students can now acquire knowledge in the comfort of their rooms, places of residence and other locations of convenience. Major problems encountered by students involve inaccessibility to course materials and the lecturers. Our main objective is to provide an easier platform for student-lecturer relationship and easy dissemination of information by the creation of LMS software. The Agile software methodology was employed in the development process. This is because it provides visible results for quick iteration and advancement of the system. We discovered that creating an LMS can be quite challenging because it requires time to transform our ideas into reality with effective use of proper tools for the software development. It is indeed an excellent method of impacting knowledge and should be implemented in all Nigerian institutions of higher learning.
An Analysis of Some Learning Management Systems

The use of modern information and communication technology as a means of training pupils and students has become a popular trend. For this purpose, a special type of web-based content management systems, called Learning Management Systems (LMSs), has been used. Due to their wide implemented, lots of LMSs have been developed in recent years. All those platforms often provide similar features and users can hardly choose the most appropriate for them. There is a variety of methodologies for the quality evaluations of e-learning in the scientific literature. However, there are no good explanations and detailed studies of most of the modern LMS platforms. This article proposes an analysis of the usability and software functionality of the LMS frameworks. Based on the survey of the state-of-art science research, the criteria for analysis of the LMS platforms in this paper are summarized in three categories: Learning skills tools, Communication tools, and Productivity tools. The main goal is to present a wide-range comparative analysis of 36 electronic learning management systems. All of them support the use of multimedia elements, creating and editing the lectures, exercises and course assignments. The lack of communication support leads to using web forums and social networks out of the LMS. The contribution of this paper presents an enriched modern trend of the software methodologies of the web-based oriented learning management systems from the perspective of design and development.
An introduction to learning management systems
This paper outlines the fundamental factors that emerge when determining whether a LMS would be an advantage in any given educational environment. Administrators, computer co-ordinators and even classroom teachers are being asked to help determine whether their institution should invest in a Learning Management System (LMS). Many know little about the area, their technical skills vary widely and most are unable to tell sales people what they want, let alone negotiate their way through to the best deal. This paper provides a balanced overview of what learning environments can expect from a learning management system.
Opening Learning Management Systems to personal learning environments

New ICT technologies are continuously introducing changes in the way in which society generates, shares and access information. This is changing what society expects and requires of education. eLearning is acting as a vector of this change, introducing pervasive transformations in and out of the classroom. But with Learning Management Systems (LMS) users have reached a plateau of productivity and stability. At the same time outside the walled garden of the LMS new transformative tools, services and ways of learning are already in use, within the PLE and PLN paradigms. The stability and maturity of the LMS may become yet another resistance factor working against the introduction of innovations. New tools and trends cannot be ignored, and this is the reason why learning platforms should become open and flexible environments. In the course of this article the reasons for this change and how it may be addressed will be discussed, together with a proposal for architecture based on Moodle.

The Learning Management System commonly abbreviated (LMS), is an internet based software application that is used to deliver educational courses and manage training programs. Usually used to administer the delivery of course content, student registration, administration of assignments and quizzes and record keeping; the LMS is a versatile educational tool which can also be used to facilitate online, distance and hybrid courses and professional training programs. In this report we discuss the design and implementation of a new Learning management System named Conception, which will be used by secondary schools in Grenada as a supplementary learning tool. Firstly an overview of Learning Management Systems; the features and functions served as a basis for identifying and defining the software requirements and specifications for the new learning solution. Additionally a survey was done involving the stakeholders to further validate the specific requirements and to obtain valuable feedback, opinions and recommendations regarding the impact of the adoption and use of a new learning software solution. Moreover an integrated approach was used to guide the overall development process by incorporating both Agile and instructional design methodologies to design and build a functional LMS. The main features of Conception includes: an administrator module capable of user management and school information management. An instructor module capable of uploading assignments and learning content as well as creating quizzes. Finally a student module which allows student s to download learning content, submit assignments, take quizzes and view their grades. Conception also includes a messaging feature which allows communication between instructors and students. The system supports a wide range of file types and uses a mobile first responsive web interface.
