Abstract
This article discusses the peer review method applied to monitoring and evaluating students' language skills. The purpose of the study is to analyze the functional characteristics and the effectiveness of this method. In the process of work, such research methods were used as the method of comparative analysis, questioning, descriptive method, statistical method. As a result of the study, the advantages and disadvantages of this method were identified, the list of linguodidactic functions of this method was analyzed, and the students' attitude to using the “peer review” method in teaching foreign languages in relation to the assessment of linguistic knowledge and skills was revealed.
