Tonyukuk monument, one of the texts with Turkish Runic letters, is a monument written by Tonyukuk himself in the 8th century in a region close to Ulan Bator, the capital of today's Mongolia. As one of the Orkhon Monuments, this monument, which conveys the important developments regarding the II Kokturk Khanate, differs from the Bilge Kagan and Kul Tigin monuments due to the distinctive features it has. Ellipsis is the deletion of a sound, word, phrase, or sentence element in a text, and it entails telling what is meant to be told without these structures. Ellipsis, which is frequently used in oral and written texts within the framework of language rules, is utilized for various reasons such as telling a lot with few words, emphasis, speed, and intensity of expression. The use of an ellipsis in a text should not disturb the semantic integrity of the text. As in every other language, ellipsis is a frequently used structure in modern Turkish prose. This study aims to reveal the ellipsis in the sentence element in the Tonyukuk monument, which is one of the first written texts of Turkish, and thus, to show in which ways the ellipsis arose in the Old Turkish texts. In this direction, the sentences in the Tonyukuk monument are while the predicate, subject, object, place complement, and adverbial complement are examined in terms of ellipsis, the missing items in the sentences are given in square brackets and in bold. It is thought that examining the sentences in the Tonyukuk monument, which has an important place in the history of the Turkish language, in terms of the ellipsis of sentence elements, it is thought that it will contribute to the studies of reading and interpreting the Tonyukuk monument.
