Educational Social Movement of Indonesian Women from Pre-Independence to Reform Era

This article attempts to examine the gradation of the social movement of Indonesian women's education from time to time, starting from the pre-independence era to the Reformation period. A long movement that does not exist in a vacuum arises from recognising women's status to men who have always held an imperial position. This article itself is conducted in a descriptive qualitative technique with a historical thinking approach. The authors found that the imperial position of women is caused by many factors, both religious views that place women lower than men and a gradation in the social movement of education throughout the history of the life of the Indonesian nation, from the pre-independence era to the reformation era. Education of Indonesian Girls: The Outlook of Discrimination, Rights, and the Impact on Society

The purpose of this quantitative study is to investigate the education of Indonesian girls in terms of discrimination, awareness of their rights to education, and the wider impact on society. The level of discrimination was analysed using the data of girls’ educational attainment and comparing it to that of boys from low income families, obtained from the Central of Bureau Statistics (CBS) Indonesia in 2012. Awareness of rights to education was investigated using a survey with 100 participants. The result showed that in all levels of education boys had a higher level of attainment than girls. Furthermore, there are higher numbers of girls than boys in the uneducated category. Girls’ educational attainment is closely linked to the human development index which is representative of society. This study aims to examine the implementation of women's educational rights, particularly in the context of religious education, through nonformal educational institutions such as Majelis Taklim and its impact on society in Indonesia. The research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach and applies triangulation techniques, involving the comparison of data from various sources, including observation, interviews, and documentation. The study was conducted at two Majelis Taklim: Majelis Taklim Al-Ukhuwah in Depok, West Java, and Majelis Taklim Ainul Yaqin in Cilegon, Banten. The findings reveal that Majelis Taklim, as a non-formal educational institution, contributes significantly to supporting the fulfillment of women's educational rights. This contribution is not limited to religious education but also includes broader areas of knowledge, such as psychology, life skills, and social activities.
Gender Equality and Women Empowerment in The National Development of Indonesia

Gender Equality and Women Empowerment has been part of the National Long-Term Development Plan (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Panjang/RPJP) of Indonesia for the period of 2000-2025. Every five year the national government of Indonesia prepares the National Medium-Term Development Plan (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional/RPJMN). This paper explores the status of gender equality and women empowerment in the national development of Indonesia, especially during the period of the implementation RPJMN of 2015-2019. This paper consists of review of national development policies, analysis of situations and problems related to gender equality and women empowerment, and achievements of gender mainstreaming in development of various sectors during the implementation of RPJMN of 2015-2019. It also delivers recommendations for direction of policies and programs for the next national medium-term development plan (RPJMN of 2020-2024). Data for this paper are derived from reviewing policy documents, official reports of ministries and government agencies, analyzing official statistical data and other secondary data from various sources.

Hehe, grammar, vocabulary etc. improved since then) -- The Republic of Indonesia is a vast and culturally diverse country comprising over 238 million people. The country has, from its independence in 1945, experienced an array of changes and a lot of these can be attributed to globalization. In broad, globalization can be regarded as an assortment of changes that are altering the shapes of economies, polities and social life (Acker, 2004). These huge changes have had a big impact in altering Indonesia’s society and in particular the gender roles. This essay will analyze the factors that have been most important in changing and sustaining the role of women from Indonesia’s independence in 1945 to date. I will first analyze the elements being most responsible in sustaining the roles, respectively, religion together with social values, and domestic politics alongside with communities. Furthermore, I will then argue that International political activism, economic growth and increased maternal education have been most important in changing the roles of women. In addition I will broadly and briefly relate to globalization throughout the essay regarding the specific factors.

The society could be developed by imparting education both for males and female. Women should be given free hand to impart education for the fullest development of the personality. There should not be distinction between male and female regarding education, as women are equally responsible with man for bringing social change in society. It is critical to be known about the way that on the off chance that ladies are uneducated, at that point half of the populace will stay uneducated, as lady covers practically 50% of the number of inhabitants in the nation. It is an extremely obvious saying that, if you teach a man, you teach a man specifically but as it might, if you educate a woman, you educate an age. Nation can only develop when there will be equal 50% contribution from both men and women and hence, women must be educated equally with men for the purpose of this contribution. Lack of education in women will lead to poor socio economic condition of the nation.
