Integrated management system: The integration of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 31000

The implementation of integrated management system (IMS) for better quality management has become a preference for many organizations. This can be seen as many organizations used the combination of quality ISO 9001, an environment ISO 14001 and occupational health and safety management system OHSAS 18001 as a core for the IMS that largely implemented. Besides, the linked between quality management with risk management system need to be identified as the management system that enhance the effectiveness of IMS. Therefore, the risk management system ISO 31000 also presented as a part of integration. In nowadays competitive environment, the increasing pressure and needs from customer or stakeholders make it compulsory for the organization to propose the new system and standards. This paper presents and discusses about the benefit of integration, the management system components that can be converged and the implementation approach. A series of interview was conducted through in-depth interviews with 8 experts in this field, while data collected were analyzed qualitatively. The results consist of 16 factors of IMS implementation that have been identified and the use of PDCA approach for an effective implementation of IMS. As a conclusion, the paper proposes the integration of four management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 31000) and on how the IMS can be used to structure the process of management for quality management towards sustainability practices in the organization.
Integrated Management Systems-Requirement of Contemporary Business Practices
Many organizations encounter the problem of development and implementation of Integrated Management System (IMS), based on the quality requirements (ISO 9001), preservation of environment (ISO 14001) and occupational health and safety assessment standard (OH&SAS 18000). In order to help the organizations in this venture, the paper presents some of the key definitions which explain the concept. This work provides an approach to the integration of different standards requirements, based on the interrelation of mutually connected business processes.
Integrated Management System: The Converging of Key Quality Standards into Single Standard

This paper discussed the Integrated Management System (IMS) that combined the quality (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001) and occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001) management system. In order to investigate the component that can be integrated with IMS, the research focuses on identifying two parts, 1) Converged component and 2) Diverged component. A series of the interview was conducted through in-depth interviews with 5 experts in this field, while data collected were analyzed qualitatively. As a conclusion, this research identified the component in IMS that can be applied for better quality management in terms of cost, time and resources towards sustainability practices in the organization.

The focus of this paper is to develop a framework for implementation of integrate management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 180001 and SA 8000). At present, these management systems are used individually in several industrial organizations. Dealing with these separate management systems and ensuring their alignment with business goal are the two big issues. Increased compatibility between these standards has paved the road for integration. With the coordination of holistic approach like TQM, it can easily embed the existing quality, health & safety, social responsibility and environmental processes in the culture of continuing improvement. Several researches have been conducted to understand the different aspects of integration. But, no suitable aspect of integration has been developed yet. The main finding of this paper concludes that, integration on the basis of philosophical compatibility between TQM and other standards can create a generic approach for implementation. Furthermore, this aspect of integration will also give administrative benefits related to implementation and maintenance of the systems.
THE PLACE OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN THE INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the place of occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) within the integrated management system. Implementation aspects of management systems are discussed, namely the different management system standards used for registration, for example ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 27001, the order in which they were implemented, the time required for each implementation, as well as the scope of integration of these management system standards into a single Integrated Management System and the level of integration. In order to do so, some of the results of a survey carried out in 81 organizations registered to at least two management systems selected from popular international standards, e.g.: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 22000 were used. OHSMS is not the system that is implemented as a first one. Usually it is implemented after or simultaneously with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. Time of implementation of MSSs in second and further round of implementation is shorter than during the implementation of first standards. There is a higher level of integration of implemented management standards in organizations where one of the standards in OHSMS, than in a companies without OHSMS. The paper analyses those sequences of management systems implementation of safety management systems with other system, that allow organizations to achieve higher levels of integration and presents a possible pattern for the companies initiating the integration process.
A Comprehensive Model and Holistic Approach for Implementing an Integrated Management Systems

standards has become the major concern of present day organizations and the implementation of single Integrated Management Systems (IMS) has gained momentum as it is viewed as a viable and rational approach for cost savings, operational efficiency, employee motivation, efficient utilization of organizational resources and a means towards sustainable development and business excellence. This paper proposes a comprehensive model and holistic approach towards the integration of MSS and implementation of IMS. The proposed model exemplifies how the elements of the existing management systems can be integrated at different levels so that they are more reflective of meaningful integration through a four stage approach-consciousness, cooperation, consonance and combination. Also, the stated holistic approach serves as a process-based strategy for IMS design, implementation and institutionalization by taking into consideration its micro-level perspectives. The stated model and approach is based on Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) Cycle and the common structure indicated in PAS 99:2012. This research work may provide valuable guidance to the organizations that intend to integrate its management systems and may enable the researchers and practitioners of MSS to develop and adopt to an IMS of their own.

Meanwhile, the existing separated management system has tendency that the management system documents are being double-checked, contain redundancies or mismatched. Therefore, the usage of IMS enables them to overcome the problem and influence them in term of cost, time and resources saving. Integrated management systems – three different levels of integration

The front-runner firms in industry are moving towards a more sustainable management of their production and products. Integrated Management Systems (IMS) are in this paper viewed as a step in this direction. The traditional management focus on economics has in several firms been extended with other areas, such as quality, the environment, occupational health and safety as well as social accountability. International standards like ISO 9001, ISO 14001, EMAS, OHSAS 18001 and SA 8000 are made for each of these areas. Up till recently there has been a major difference between especially the quality and the environmental standards, when it comes to the underlying understanding of organisations. However, since the new version of ISO 9000 in 2000 the similarities have increased regarding the core aspects of management. This has paved the road for the idea of an integrated management system, and at the same time making it easier for companies to comply with several standards. This paper discusses the development of a standard for IMS, the organisational challenges with IMS, the experiences with IMS in industry and finally the drafts of IMS standards in Danish and Spanish context is analysed.
