Abstract

The basic study of protein provides insight into their role in health and diseases. Protein–protein interaction (PPI) networks are intrinsic to virtually every cellular process and of vital importance in systems biology. Besides the knowledge of protein three-dimensional structures, their dynamics and interaction profiles are important to completely understand the biochemical mechanisms at the molecular level and utilize it for the benefit of mankind. Protein–protein interactions can alter the kinetic properties of proteins, and this can be reflected in the form of crucial alteration in specificity to substrates, catalysis, or altered allosteric properties of the complex. Understanding of protein complex formation allows an analysis of molecular functions, and hence needed to redesign and produce tailor-made proteins suitable for desired work.
