The relationship between physical fitness and shooting accuracy of professional basketball players

The aim of this study was to examine the relationships among physical fitness of professional Bosnian basketball players (n = 38) and shooting accuracy during one basketball season. A related, secondary aim was to examine relationships between basketball shooting assessments and competitive shooting accuracy during game play. Physical fitness components included: muscular endurance and aerobic endurance, lower and upper-body power, speed, agility, anaerobic capacity and anaerobic power. The specific basketball shooting accuracy was assessed by stationary and dynamic shooting assessments. Competitive shooting accuracy was represented by data collected during one basketball season for each player (free throw, field goal, and three-point %). Relationship between Selected Physical Fitness Variables and Shooting Accuracy among High School Basketball Players in the Cape Coast Metropolis, Ghana, 2022
This research was carried out to examine the relationship between selected physical fitness characteristics and shooting accuracy among high school basketball players in the Cape Coast Metropolis. Preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting accuracy of basketball players in the metropolis was not good compared to the standards set for players of their age category. Forty (40) basketball players comprising twenty (20) male and twenty (20) female, male with a mean age of 17.15, weight of 73.20, height of 1.79, and female also with a mean age of 17.15, a weight of 68.65 and height of 1.64 were randomly sampled and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups, respectively. The experimental group was taken through drills to improve on selected fitness variables while the control group went through a mini-clinic on passing and dribbling. The mini-clinic was used to occupy the control group for the period of training at a different venue as the experimental group went through specific drills intended to improve on selected physical fitness characteristics which were used as the bases for assessing improvement in shooting accuracy. Because the mini-clinic focused on passing and dribbling, it did not have any influence on their shooting hence difference was identified. Physical fitness tests were conducted using standardized tests; agility was tested with the Illinois agility test, balance with the flamingo test, coordination with the alternate hand wall toss test, power (upper body) was tested with the seated medicine ball toss test, power (lower body) with the standing broad jump, reaction time with the ruler test, and speed with the 40m dash. For shooting accuracy, the researchers adapted the tests used by Pojsic, Separovic, and Uzicanin which are static free throw, dynamic free throw, static two points, and dynamic two points. A dependent sample t-test and Pearson's correlation were used for analysis. Overall results showed no statistically significant difference between the experimental and control group for both sexes for the physical fitness and shooting accuracy tests at the pretest but at the posttest, there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups. There was also a strong positive relationship between physical fitness and shooting accuracy among high school basketball players in the Cape Coast metropolis. The problem of shooting accuracy among high school basketball players in Cape Coast metropolis can be improved with a planned programme to improve on their selected game-related physical fitness variables.
Exploring the Efficacy of Basketball Shooting: A Comprehensive Analysis of Success Rates

The present study evaluated success rate of basketball shooting for different skill levels. A total of 10 subjects (5 skilled and 5 unskilled) participated in this study. The main goal of the study was to provide the preliminary data for further studies in finding mechanisms of improving shooting success rate during basketball games. This larger constraint is thought to require performers to change their motion control strategy to maintain accuracy and create a tremendous urge to push the ball the moment it is released. Still, many players have difficulty adapting to longer distance shooting. The results suggested that there were main effects of group and distance, but, no interaction effect was found. In conclusion, shooting success rate were affected by distance regardless of skill levels in basketball shooting.
The effect of shooting training on the development of the shot hit rate for basketball players

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of shooting training for young basketball players and the development of shot percentage of special shot training. 30 male students-athletes participated in this study voluntarily participated in College Teams (age= 14,82 ± 1,0; height= 183,44 ± 6,13; body weight= 68,06 ± 5,38). Subjects were divided into 2 groups, consisting of continuous shooting training (experiment) (n = 15) and general basketball training group (control) (n = 15).Both training groups were subjected to a training program for 10 weeks, 4 days in a week. Evaluation of The 356-Soccer Shooting Test
Introduction Limitations of existing methods for evaluation of kicking success in soccer brought to establishing a new protocol: 365 Soccer Shooting Test (365-SST). The aim of the study was to examine inter-session reliability and discriminative ability of the 365-SST on male soccer players. Methods Sixty-six soccer players of different playing standard (amateur - AP, young elite - YEP and experienced semi- professional -SPP) were recruited to perform 2 bouts of 10 shots using preferable foot on 2 separated days. Ball velocity (BV) was meas- ured with the radar gun. In addition, we calculated shooting quality (SQ) as ratio of shooting accuracy (SA; mean distance of ball-hit scoring zones from the goal-centre) and time by hitting the ball to the point of goal-entry. Reliability of BV, SQ, and SA was evaluated using systematic bias (SB), within-individual variation (CV) and retest correlation, while the sensitivity was assessed with one-way ANOVA. Results No changes in performance outcome in SQ, SA and BV (0.3-1.4%, all P>0.6) was evident in the second test. CVs for shooting performance measures were 5.3% for BV, 14% for SQ and 15.4% for SA. All performance measures had high inter-session correlation (r = 0.7-0.88). The tested groups differed considerably from each other in SQ (F=56.8; P<0.001), SA (F=55.8; P<0.001) and BV (F=8.7; P<0.001). Post-hoc analyses showed differences in SA and SQ among all qualitative groups, while significant difference in BV was observed only between the AP and YP players. Discussion The main findings of this study are good reliability and discriminative ability of a newly devel- oped 356-SST. Indeed, previous soccer-specific shooting tests had considerably higher within-individual variation for velocity and accura- cy scores, and lower retest correlations (Ali et al., 2007; Russell et al., 2010, respectively). Furthermore, SA and SQ proved to be sensitive measures of shooting performance of soccer players of different experience and proficiency level. Background and Study Aim. Shooting in a basketball game is the method of throwing the ball into the ring or basket to get points. As a result, extra treatment is required to improve kids' shooting abilities. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of play method on basketball shooting ability results. The research subjects were 11th grade students from State Senior High School 4 Ketapang, and a sample of 37 students was obtained using the purposive sampling technique. The main objective of this study was to establish whether fatigue has an effect on accuracy during basketball shooting. Aside from basketball shooting accuracy, two very important kinematic parameters were also examined as they have an effect on the level of accuracy during shooting: the speed of performing the actual shot and the angle at which the ball enters into the basket after a jump shot is performed. In conducting this research one examinee was observed, a member of the Croatian U16 National Basketball Team. Study purpose. The assessment tools or skills tests, such as the AAHPERD basketball skill test and the Johnson basketball test, are all partial or separate. All these tests are old products, while the game of basketball is constantly evolving. The purpose of this study was to design and validate basketball skills and performance tests for players aged 14–16 years to shorten the test time, shorten the waiting time for results, and be comprehensive so that they can reflect real abilities and can be used as a reference when carrying out selection and evaluation. Shooting is a high precision sport, where high level performance requires several physical capacities, striking control, experience, posture control and skill of a shooter. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the shooting performance and physical capacities of the competing shooters. A total of 19 shooters participated as volunteers in the Turkish Championship youth category. Anthropometric measurements and shooting scores were recorded. Hand grip strength, flexibility, reaction time, dynamic balance, maximal oxygen consumption and respiratory function tests were applied. The correlation between shooting performance and respiratory function parameters, motoric characteristics were examined by Pearson Correlation analysis. Basketball coaches in the Cape Coast Metropolis have long been struggling with their basketball players' shooting accuracy especially those in the senior high schools. This is because it does not compare well to the standards of players in the same age group because players in the metropolis have poor shooting rates.
