Decentralized sustainable energy planning of Tumkur district, India (original) (raw)
The study explores decentralized energy planning (DEP) for Tumkur district in India, focusing on modeling different energy resource scenarios for achieving sustainable energy solutions. By employing a goal programming approach, the research identifies biomass gasifier technology as a viable means to meet rural electricity needs while utilizing just 12% of district wasteland for biomass production. The outcomes emphasize benefits such as local employment, environmental sustainability, and surplus electricity generation for grid supply, highlighting the need for a shift towards decentralized energy systems for better alignment with rural energy demands.
