Nominal prosodic paradigms and their synchronic reflexes in West Slavic (original) (raw)
Accent Matters, 2011
Abstract
Examines the conversion of Common Slavic accentual paradigms into quantitative paradigms of West Slavic. New restrictions on prosodic mobility are indicated, showing why morphological, and not phonological rules, determine many quantitative reflexes of the modern languages. Quantitative alternations generally had to be linked to new vowel~zero alternations.
