An Overview on Security Issues in Cloud Computing

IOSR-JCE, 2012

Cloud Computing, a rapidly developing information technology has aroused the concern of the whole world. Cloud Computing is Internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and devices on-demand, like the electricity grid [1]. Cloud Computing is the product of the fusion of traditional computing technology and network technology like grid computing, distributed computing parallel computing and so on. It aims to construct a perfect system with powerful computing capability through a large number of relatively low-cost computing entity, and using the advanced business models like SaaS (Software as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) to distribute the powerful computing capability to end the users' hands. This paper introduces the background and service model of cloud computing. This paper also introduces the existing issues in cloud computing such as security, privacy, reliability and so on.

A REVIEW ON SECURITY AND PRIVACY ISSUES IN CLOUD COMPUTING

Cloud computing is an upcoming paradigm that offers tremendous advantages in economical aspects, such as reduced time to market, flexible computing capabilities, and limitless computing power. To use the full potential of cloud computing, data is transferred, processed and stored by external cloud providers. However, data owners are very skeptical to place their data outside their own control sphere. Cloud computing is a new development of grid, parallel, and distributed computing with visualization techniques. It is changing the IT industry in a prominent way. Cloud computing has grown due to its advantages like storage capacity, resources pooling and multi-tenancy. On the other hand, the cloud is an open environment and since all the services are offered over the Internet, there is a great deal of uncertainty about security and privacy at various levels. Proposed work aims to address security and privacy issues threatening the cloud computing adoption by end users. Cloud providers are mindful of cloud security and privacy issues and are working hardly to address them. Few of these threats have been addressed, but many more threats still unsolved. Proposed work focused on cloud computing security and privacy threats, challenges, and issues. Furthermore, some of the countermeasures to these threats will be discussed and synthesized. Finally, possible solutions for each type of threats will be introduced before we end with conclusions and future work.

Privacy and Security issues in Cloud computing

Cloud computing is one of the most widely used and acceptable technique. Because of this it came into attention of various groups of people, so the security and maintenance of cloud is major issue. In this paper we have point out some of the major issues effecting the security and reliability of the cloud.

Security Issues in Cloud Computing

The cloud is next generation platform that provides dynamic resource pooling, virtualization and high resource availability. It is one of today’s most enticing technology areas due to its advantages like cost efficiency and flexibility. There are significant or persistent concerns about the cloud computing those are impeding momentum and will compromise the vision of cloud computing as a new information technology procurement model. A general understanding of cloud computing refers to the concept of grid computing, utility computing, software as a service, storage in cloud and virtualization. It enables the virtual organization to share geographically distributed resources as they pursue common goals, assuming the absence of central location, omniscience and an existing trust relationship. This paper is a survey more specific to the different security issues that has emanated due to the nature of the service delivery models of a cloud computing system.

Security Problems in Cloud Computing

International Journal of Recent Contributions from Engineering, Science & IT (iJES), 2016

Cloud is a pool of computing resources which are distributed among cloud users. Cloud computing has many benefits like scalability, flexibility, cost savings, reliability, maintenance and mobile accessibility. Since cloud-computing technology is growing day by day, it comes with many security problems. Securing the data in the cloud environment is most critical challenges which act as a barrier when implementing the cloud. There are many new concepts that cloud introduces, such as resource sharing, multi-tenancy, and outsourcing, create new challenges for the security community. In this work, we provide a comparable study of cloud computing privacy and security concerns. We identify and classify known security threats, cloud vulnerabilities, and attacks.

On Cloud Computing Security Issues

The cloud is a next generation platform that provides dynamic resource pools, virtualization, and high availability. The concept of cloud computing is using a virtual centralization. This means, in one part, we have a full control on data and processes in his computer. On the other part, we have the cloud computing where the service and data maintenance is provided by vendors. The client or customers usually unaware about the place where processes are running or the data is stored. So, logically speaking, the client has no control over it. This is the reason cloud computing facing so many security challenge. In this paper, we presented selection issues in cloud computing and focus on the security issues. There are four cloud computing security issues that will be focused, namely XML signature, browser security, cloud integrity and binding issues and flooding attacks. Data security on the cloud side is not only focused on the process of data transmission, but also the system security and data protection for those data stored on the storages of the cloud side. There are some considerations that need to be focused in order to achieve better safe environment in cloud computing such as storage and system protection and data protection. In order to achieve better performance in security, cloud computing needs to fulfill five goals which are availability, confidentiality, data integrity, control and audit. By implementing these goals, we hope data security in cloud computing will be more secure. We also hope that cloud computing will have a bright future with arise of a large number of enterprises and will bring an enormous change in the Internet since it is a low-cost supercomputing to provide services.

Security Issues and Challenges in Cloud Computing

International Conference on Information Engineering, Management and Security 2014, 2014

Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources such as networks, servers, storage, applications, and services that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider Interaction. Despite the potential gains achieved from the cloud computing, the organizations are slow in accepting it due to security issues and challenges associated with it. Security is one of the major issues which hamper the growth of cloud. The idea of handing over important data to another company is worrisome; such that the consumers need to be vigilant in understanding the risks of data breaches in this new environment. This paper introduces a detailed analysis of the cloud computing security issues and challenges focusing on the cloud computing types and the service delivery types.

OVERVIEW OF SECURITY ISSUES IN CLOUD COMPUTING

Cloud computing is an ambiguous weapon from the privacy and security perspectives. Regardless of its likely to provide a low cost security, organizations may increase hazards by storing delicate data in the cloud. A comprehensive study of cloud computing security and privacy concerns are provided in this work. Security is one of the major issues which hamper the growth of cloud. Also the various security and privacy enhancement methods that are evaluated in the previous works have been analysed and discussed. This would serve as the promising analysis to know about the strengthening approach used for resolving the privacy issues and the security threats occurred in the cloud resources. In this paper, several Cloud Computing system providers about their concerns on security and privacy issues are analysed.

Security issues in cloud computing environment

Cloud computing provides exceptional flexibility of sharing of resources among millions of user across the globe covering small business to large enterprise. It also provides an infrastructure to compile and process the complex scientific data for various data mining applications. It offers numerous benefits that help small and medium scale businesses to extract computing services at very affordable cost. As the consumption of cloud services is increasing, various security issues came into existence. In this paper we collect the information regarding number of security issues and categorize them.
