The tahkim incident is an event that witnesses the history of the birth of sects in Islam. According to political perspectives, there are 3 groups that were born from this event, namely Khawarij, Shia, and Murjiah. The emergence of these theological schools was initially driven by heated political factors. However, gradually there was a shift that previously focused on power, moving further into the area of aqidah, principles and beliefs. This leads to the level of the nature of Muslims and infidels as well as accusing certain groups of having deviated from or still adhere to Islamic values. One of the theological schools that emerged as a reaction to the tahkim incident was Maturidiyah. This school was pioneered by Abu Mansur al-Maturidi, who was born in Samarkand in the second half of the 9th century AD. This school believes that reason can be used to understand religion, but it must not conflict with revelation.
