The main goal of the research is to determine the differences in certain dimensions in the battery of the psychological questionnaires within Multidimensional Scale of Sports' Psychological Talents (MSSPT) in male handball players, according to their club, age group, winning medals and membership in junior national team. Second goal was to determine the profiles of male handball players in all examined psychological characteristics in MSSPT. The purposeful sample of 127 male handball players was examined, members of the teams Prvo plinarsko društvo, Metalac (Zagreb) and Zamet (Rijeka). In this study, three instruments from the battery MSSPT are used: Mental Energy Scale (MES), Athletic Engagement Scale (AES) and Optimism Scale (OS). The results revealed that the most significant differences are found in dimensions of MSSPT between the players of different age groups, while no differences are found according to winning medals in junior state championship, or according to the membership in the junior national team. K-means clustering revealed two profiles of male handball players. In the first cluster are older players with higher means in Self-esteem and Energy as strength while making errors, while in the second cluster are grouped younger players with higher means in all other psychological characteristics.
Assessment of psychological skills in young elite female handball players

The aim of this study was to know psychological characteristics of young elite female handball players using the C.P.R.D. questionnaire, and to establish possible differences based on years competing. The obtained results show that these young female handball players have similar psychological characteristics to other sports players. Players with more year of competitive experience showed higher scores in different psychological skills assessed. Nevertheless, only significant differences were found between more experienced players and less experienced players (years competing) in mental skills scale (p≤ 0,05).

The study aimed to know psychological skills of young elite female handball players and to analyze possible differences in these variables considering their level of competitive experience, depending on the scores obtained in CHPCDC-Children and Youth Scale. The more experienced players showed lower scores on several psychological skills and also a lower total score. Therefore should be included in sports training, psychological skills training.
Coping and Sport-motivation of Adolescent Handballers in Debrecen
The aim of study was to examine coping and motivation of adolescent handball players in Debrecen. Forty-six male and thirty-one female handball players completed the questionnaires, furthermore eighteen male and eighteen females were participated in focus groups. The purpose of this study was to measure gender differences in sport motivation, psychological immune system and athletic coping skills in a population of adolescent handball players. The applied psychological measure method was the Sport Motivation Scale (SMS-28), four subscales of Psychological Immune System Inventory, and the Athletic Coping Skills Inventory (ACSI-28). Results revealed that males have a better self-efficacy and athletic coping skills and have a higher level of intrinsic motivation too. The outcome of the survey confirm that adolescence boys have a better self-efficacy and coping which can be seen on the sport ground as well. Other way focus groups were indicated the measure anxiety on sport ground, the applied coping strategies, and the motivation viewpoints of playing handball at the beginning of the activity and currently. at the Results has showed that at the beginning of playing handball participant have extrinsic motivation (e. g. the stimulation of their parents) but currently the reason of the activity is intrinsic motivation (e. g. health, future). Additionally, during the match there is a significant difference between the perceived anxiety against hard and weak teams at the beginning, in the middle and in the end of the match; furthermore, females have a higher level of anxiety during the match, against hard and weak teams too, but the difference is not significant. Finally, there is no significant difference between males and females in the applied coping strategies and it doesn't have any effects on anxiety.

Pre-competition mental state is an important component of a sports outcome. In terms of the type of sport, the results of pre-competition state research differ depending on the methodology used. The aim of this paper was to determine mental states for elite sports competitions in one individual (shooting) and one team sport (handball). The research involved 41 elite athletes of both genders (11 males and 30 females) aged 16 to 34, who were members of the senior national shooting (N1=24) and senior national handball (N2=17) teams of Serbia. The applied instruments included the CSAI-2 and the CA test. Data processing involved descriptive statistics and variance analysis. The results indicate significant differences between athletes in individual and team sport, in favour of team sport athletes. In this study, mental toughness and anxiety have been chosen to be compared between male American football and handball players. The present study was carried out to determine and examine the psychological parameters mentioned above and show the importance of these concepts in the process of sport career. Mental toughness (with its sub-dimensions) and anxiety levels of 44 male participants were determined. Twenty-seven of those participants were American football players between 19 and 25 years of age (mean ± s: age 20.93 ± 2.25 years). Their sports experience ranged between 1 and 19 years (mean ± s: 10.26 ± 3.34 years). The remaining seventeen participants were handball players between 18 and 26 years of age (mean ± s: age 21.54 ± 3.31 years). Their sport experience ranged between 5 and 12 years (mean ± s: 9.15 ± 4.13 years). Differences between the groups were determined using the "Independent Sample t-test" analysis method using the SPSS 21.0 software. The independent sample t-test results showed that there were significant differences in the total mental toughness (including its sub-dimensions; confidence, constancy and control) and anxiety levels of the two group of players (p < .05). The American football team players' confidence, control, and total mental toughness levels were higher than that of handball players and they had lower level scores for constancy and anxiety levels.

Ability to competing at the highest level requires the athlete's endurance, tactical and technical preparedness and mental toughness. There are structured and systematic psychological preparation is neccessery especially when the athlete is young. It is important to find weakest skill and offer well targeted program for its improvement. And essential edge is to show "a full picture" and to offer athletes insight into factors that influence the development of a successful sports career. Athletes psychological skills developement is a main part in psychological preparation and the way to reach the elite level. This study concentrates on athletes that have been identified as talented and have first successful performing experience in international (European and World Championships) competitions in their age. There are examine 53 talented athletes representing various summer sports in Latvia. In this study used PSIS R5 questionnaire form adapted in Latvia. There are six basic psychological skills are measure: motivation, self-confidence, mental preparation, anxiety control, concentration and team emphasis. The results obtained are analyzed and compared to determine individual characteristics and gender differences. The study results showed psychological skills differences between gender. The strongest skills are motivation, and team emphasis for both males and females, but males have additional strong psychological skill self-confidence. The main improvement areas are similar, i.e. anxiety control, concentration and mental preparation for all athletes and additional weak skill for female is self-confidence in this study. PSIS R5 questionnaire is a suitable tool for diagnosing athletes basic psychological skills levels. This study findings can be used as a starting point for developing well-targeted athletes psychological skills training programs in Latvia.

To represent the relationship between psychological skills and performance level in ball team sports within a youth talent group, 216 youth Tunisian male athletes representing four sports ball games (16 to 18 years) packed in the third version of the Ottawa Mental Skills Assessment Tool-3 with scales for Goal Setting, Self Confidence, Commitment, Stress Reactions, Fear Control, Activation, Relaxation, Imagery, Mental Practice, Focusing, Refocusing and Competition planning. A performance level (elite versus sub-elite) by type of sport multivariate analysis of covariance with age as a covariate showed had significant effects. ABSTRACT The sport competition is considered the main place where the player physical, physiological, technical, skillful, psychological ability is showed, and also his readiness to achieve the winning in a contest ruled by the game rules and often these sport competitions characterized with the appearance of the high nervous tension and anger that reflect on the players, as the physiological and physical readiness are considered as a main two circles of the good player preparation series, and both of these series affect the one another negatively and positively. The preparing of the player for a high level on the psychological, physical, physiological arena, create a case of the physical stability and self and movement control, later it create heavy desire and the high readiness to join the contest and overtake the difficulties that the players can face, and the physical case can be affect the psychological case and vice versa under the normal circumstances for a adapted stable personality, these two researchers used the Premier League handball players that their number is (64) player so the research sample formed percentage of 33,33%. From the community ratio and they used a psycho-physiological and skillful tests for the handball and the relation between them, and the researchers reached a moral relation between skill and the psychophysiological variables.
