Water Adsorption on Zeolites for Solar Heat Storage: Modelling and Parametric Analysis of the Reactor (original) (raw)

Proceedings of the EuroSun 2014 Conference, 2015

Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper presents a parametric study of the performance of a zeolite based sorption reactor for heat storage, using a validated 1D mathematical model. The model involves coupled heat and mass transfer inside the reactive porous bed and is used to study the effect of parameters such as the specific humidity and the temperature of humid air on the heat released by the reactor bed during the adsorption phase and the water content of zeolites at the end of the desorption phase. The results of the dynamic simulations quantify on the one hand the increase of the heat released by the reactor bed with the increase of the water content of the supplied air during the adsorption phase and on the other hand, the decrease of the water content of the zeolites at the end of the desorption phase with the increase of the temperature of the supplied air and the decrease of its specific humidity.
