Algunas notas acerca de la vida y el nombre de San Bernardo de Clonfert

After a brief establishement of the topic, the author tries to emphasize that, in spite of the existence of one hundred manuscripts about the Navi gatio and the Vita Sancti Brendani, there remains problems in relation to this saint: the ignorance of his own life, reviewed in ibis study through the genealogy and the education, taken fi-om his Vita and the established discussions about the name of Brendan, distinguishing between what aymologicals fancies are, according to the life of a saint and what, probably, is es the name of druidic meaning, which evolutionated and christianized in the medieval Irish society.

This project is an analysis of the manuscript written by M. Fdez. Sidrón in 1735 signed in the Library of the University of La Laguna as (83/1-5). Nevertheless, the principal aim of the study is to show the relation that the author established between San Borondón and St. Brendan of Clonfert, as well as to give a Spanish version of the text published in 1647 by J. Colgan De egressione familie Sancti Brendani, partly related with the tradition of the Nauigatio Sancti Brendani.
