Cowongan is the Cultural Heritage of Banyumas: Relevance of Rituals as a part of the Value Character Education

Cowongan rituals have existed since a long time ago (the days of ancestors) and need to be preserved today. This study aims to determine the relevance of cowongan ritual as a part of the value of character education Senior High School in Baturaden. Cowongan comes from the word "cowong" which means that the perok/barongan is used to request the downfall of rain through the cowongan ritual. The problems discussed in this article are related to cowongan background, the values contained in cowongan rituals, and the relevance of these values to character education. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The researcher collects data through in-depth interviewing, direct observation with passive participation, and documentation. The data analysis technique used to analyze cowongan cultural traditions is a qualitative descriptive technique. The results showed that there was cowongan ritual relevance with the value of character education Senior High School in Baturaden. The values contained in the cowongan tradition are cultural values in the behavior of the cowongan tradition, aesthetic values in the cowongan tradition poetry, aesthetic values in the symbol of cowongan tradition objects, religious values in cowongan tradition lyrics, and social values and religious values of the cowongan tradition of Banyumas Regency positive attitude that can be used as learning for a better life.

Jaranan Pogogan art Teguh Rahayu have its own uniqueness. The uniqueness lies in the presentation performed on stage, and is presented by two male dancers who dress up like a pretty woman. This study aims to describe the communication activities of the Ngaji Makam Ngaturang Ulak Kaya and to describe the meaning of communication activities in the stages of the ritual procession of Ngaji Ngaturang Ulak Kaya. The Ngaji Ngaturang Ulak Kaya is a traditional ritual that is held to celebrate the rice harvest. This study uses a qualitative approach with the ethnographic communication as the type of research This study was successful in knowing that the ritual procession of the Ngaturang Ulak Kaya Ngaji ritual was conducted in two places, with four processions, and held once every year. The communication activities at the Ngaturang Ulak Kaya Ngaji Makam ritual include two communicative situations, namely the ritual of mengosap and bathing under ivory and the ritual of menyilak and priapan. The communication process that occurs during a series of ritual processions reflects two meanings, namely spiritual and social structures.

Dadung Feast Rite As A Cultural Expression in Legok Herang Village, Kuningan district

This research aims to examine the tradition of the Dadung Party in Legokherang village, Kuningan Regency, West Java. A tradition that expresses gratitude to God for the harvest and the entity maintaining the relationship between living creatures and nature. The research method used is qualitative with a dance anthropology approach which is elaborated with choreographic concepts. This research shows that the Dadung Party is an integral part of community life and has been passed down from generation to generation. It also has connections to the Islamic beliefs propagated by the Wali Songo. This ritual involves various stages, such as worship, Rajah Pamunah, and entertainment and ritual equipment that must be adhered to by community participants. This tradition is a preserved cultural heritage and functions as a balance to modern culture. The noble philosophical values contained in the dance at the Dadung Party although this dance does not have fixed movements, the emphasis on expression as a manifestation of feelings is very important. Local cultural continuity is a dynamic part of society, and external cultural influences must be adapted to the worldview and local culture.

Reconstruction of Mebuug-Buugan Tradition as Revitalization of Local Wisdom in Kedonganan Traditional Village, Kuta District, Badung Regency

This article aims to explore as well as explain the causes and implications of the reconstruction of the Mabuug-Buugan tradition in the Kedonganan Traditional Village. Mebuug –Buugan is one of the important traditions in the celebration of Nyepi which is owned by the Kedonganan Indigenous people. But over time, this tradition has not been implemented for approximately 60 years, based on information, the last Mabuug-Buugan was carried out in 1965. In that period until 2012, the stories and practices of Mabuug-Buugan were almost inaudible, especially when they were practiced. One of the traditions of grave pilgrimage that is still carried out by the community is the tradition of grave pilgrimage in Merpas Village Kaur Regency, Bengkulu known as Njalang. This tradition is unique be- cause the grave pilgrimage is carried out jointly by villagers every 2nd day of Syawal. This research is aimed at analyzing the meaning of Njalang for the Merpas villagers from the perspective of symbolic interaction. The research method was descriptive qualitative.
