In general, the architecture of religious buildings was in harmony with astronomical and spiritual phenomena. The Imam Ali Holy Shrine is one of Iraq's most prominent Islamic monuments due to its distinctive architectural heritage, which was greatly influenced by cosmic phenomena. Imam Ali Holy Shrine included several design elements as a reflection of this architecture's harmony with cosmic phenomena; this demonstrates the architect's ability at the time to deal with astronomical phenomena in architecture, declaring the sustainability of architectural block technology and the symbolic and moral values it stores. The current study is unique in its practical and mathematical revelation for the role of astronomical phenomena in shaping the architecture of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine in Najaf, due to a lack of information about it, as the Imam Ali Holy Shrine included several design elements as an astronomical observatory. The goal of the study was to uncover these phenomena by forming these elements, as well as the possibility of investing them in the future development of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine. The study used a descriptive and analytical approach, and the minaret of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine was examined and verified as an astronomical observatory for the sun. In addition, the research established the validity of the four seasons.
