Electricity Generation by Solar Energy in Turkey: Current State and Outlook

Journal of Energy and Power Engineering, 2015

Turkey is in good condition in terms of solar energy because of the fact that, Turkey falls in between 40 degree North and 40 degree South latitude which is called as "sunbelt". The potential of producing electric from solar energy is very high in terms of potential of Turkey. According to a report by the Turkish Energy Ministry, Turkey's average rate of electrical energy consumption increased to levels 5.59 in the last 11 years. Moreover, solar energy may be primary energy source on account of the fact that, Turkey is in the position of a country importing energy and has signed Kyoto Protocol of carbon emission to atmosphere. The aim of the article is to give information about acts need to be done and present policies of Turkey on producing electric from solar energy. Beyond question, the policies of the government will determine the direction of developmental momentum of energy industry in Turkey as whole world will. The present support to production of electric from solar energy is not enough, so it is needed to give much higher level of support to this sector. In this context, it is essential to enhance guarantied tariff cost and the power of unlicensed electric production.

SOLAR ENERGY İN TURKEY

We know that renewable energy is wide used these days since all the World is looking for alternative sources to produce electricity and that is due to many reasons as, expensive tariff and saving the environment we live in, this paper is talking about solar energy use, production of electricity and investments in general and in Turkey. 15.9.2016

Thermal Solar Energy Use and Turkey Analysis

Bitlis Eren University Journal of Science and Technology, 2015

Energy is an important problem in Turkey as well as the whole world. Since Turkey has insufficient sources in terms of fossil energy sources, it is dependent on foreign. However, Turkey has rich resources in terms of solar energy (SE). The European Union countries (EU) try to generalize solar energy through promotions performing studies for raising awareness for generation of electricity from the sun. In Turkey, required importance is not given to the studies to raise the awareness and promotions In this study, the SE investments that will be made in the long turn, the promotions that can be given by the public and the economic contributions made to the country are examined by comparing the SE potential of the world countries. Assessments on the fact that Spain, as a sample, which has made a move benefitting from heat source SE with CSP systems in the last decade and which ranks the 4th in this field in the world can be a model for Turkey is included. As a result, analysis and assessments have been made on that Stirling Engine Solar Systems that are appropriate for using and generating electricity individually among CSP systems should be generalized in Turkey.

Potential and utilization of solar energy policies in Turkey

The Journal of Engineering Research, 2019

Energy is an indispensable element for the survival and development of modern society. From the use of heat in industries to the heating of a house, from feeding a freighter to fueling a motorcycle, from automating an entire production process to lighting an office lamp, energy use is an essential part of our everyday life across different scales and forms of utilizing it. With the development of new technologies, coupled with the exorbitant growth of the world population and the emergence of new needs, one of the great challenges we currently face is the uncertainty of energy availability in the future given its current demand, primarily due to the extensive use of nonrenewable sources and the large-scale exploitation of the planet’s natural resources. Turkey’s carbon dioxide emissions have grown along with its energy consumption. States have played a leading role in protecting the environment by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. In this regard, renewable energy resources app...

Recent Energy Policy Regulation on Solar Energy Systems in Turkey: Impact on the Economy and the Environment

The main objective of this report is to give detail information regarding the capacity of Turkish electricity market as well as taking into consideration the country's economic situation all over the world. Following by this, the demand and consumption of Turkey's electricity capacity is given by associated with its economical growth and dependence on energy from abroad. It is pointed out that Turkey is the one of the biggest fossil fuel consumers. The fact of the time line of Turkey's energy status is highlighted by given actual data comparing last three decades. The effect of utilizing of fossil energy source on country's economical and environmental welfare is discussed. There is a wide consensus on existing un-reversible climate change due to increased CO 2 emissions so in order to reduce emission the benefit of utilizing solar energy system is explained in accord with country's solar energy policy up to date as well as additional incentives granted by Turkish government for installation. The country great solar energy potential and installed photovoltaic capacity are also given by comparing other countries.

The Evaluation of Factors in Utilizing the Potential of Solar Energy: The Case of Turkey

Environmental Research and Technology, 2021

The importance of energy which has a significant ro le in so cio-economic development of countries is increasing because of a fast-growing population and industrialization. The fact that the fossil resources are insufficient to meet the demand if new reserves cannot be found in the near future and the threat to human and environmental health lead the countries to seek renewable clean energy resources. Turkey, which is dependent on foreign energy due to being poor in terms of fossil fuels as a country, has high solar energy potential but cannot utilize this potential fully. In this paper, the importance and potential of solar energy in Turkey, the problems encountered in utilizing solar energy have been studied. In this study, semi-structured interview was used as qualitative data collection technique. The experts to be interviewed were selected from people with at least five years of academic or sector experience in solar energy. As a result of the research, it was reached by all experts interviewed that Turkey need to increase the benefit from solar energy for Turkey's social and economic development and there are various obstacles in front of utilizing this benefit. However, i t i s s een t hat e xpert opinions vary in terms of solutions.

TURKEY’s SOLAR ENERGY FUTURE

In the field of energy, specific models and foresight methodologies have been developed. These models and methodologies help to evaluate the potential impact of energy policies related to sustainable development and technological progress. The aim of this study was to explore how the future of technological developments in solar power technologies will be shaped in Turkey. At the same time, this foresight study was to provide decision support for companies and research institutes in defining their R&D priorities, and to assist governmental decisionmakers in making effective policies. The article discusses not only the expert sights on solar energy technologies but also all bibliometrical approaches. Bibliometric study was conducted in order to investigate the literature, one-to-one meetings were organized with the experts yielding the data for SWOT analysis and finally the two-rounded Delphi questionnaire was designed for eliciting the solar power technologies in Turkey projected fo...
