Students’ burnout has been widely investigated in recent decades, mainly showing a higher risk for female students across academic levels. To our knowledge, few studies have investigated whether employed students experience higher academic burnout risks. In this regard, previous findings have shown mixed results. The current study investigated the differences in burnout experience based on students’ gender and worker status. We expected to find differences among study groups in their burnout levels. The participants were 494 Italian university students (49.6% female students; 49.4% working students) who completed the short version of the Burnout Assessment Tool Core dimensions (BAT-C). Burnout Among Students of Technical Faculties in Serbia – A Case Study

Even though university students are not employees of the faculties, their academic duties (attending classes, taking exams, writing term papers and essays, and so on) can be considered as forms of work, whereby they engage socially with their teachers and other students, which is why student burnout has come into increased focus of numerous studies. The aim of this paper is to examine the relationship between gender, tuition fee status, and year of study and burnout among the students of basic academic studies at one of the public faculties in southern Serbia (N=194) using the School Burnout Inventory (SBI-U 9). The obtained results indicate that moderate exhaustion, cynicism, and the feeling of inadequacy are related to moderate burnout of the majority of the students. It has been determined that gender influences one burnout dimension-exhaustion, while the students' tuition fee status is related to cynicism and inadequacy, as is their year of study. This study also found that high degree of burnout increases with the years of study.

The role of the university department and students’ year of birth and year of study in relation to burnout syndrome has been examined thoroughly. In this paper it is assumed that students are considered as workers and that the studies are analogously their work. Correspondingly, the years of study are proportional to both the student's age and the characteristics of the workload to. In this regard, a structured questionnaire was answered by 582 students of the University of Patras whose answers were analysed via an exploratory factor analysis. Burnout Levels Among Senior Students in Applied Sciences Faculties: An Empirical Analysis in Turkey

Today, one of the most disputable topics of the business world is burnout. Burnout is mostly mentioned when it comes to stress, but it has more serious consequences than stress with regards to organizational structure. Students also experience burnout as much as the employees in the business life. Some of the students, who are employed in the business after their graduation from the university, both works in the business sector and continue their education as graduate or Phd students. This study aims to analyze the burnout levels of graduate students who study at Graduate Departments of Applied Sciences Faculties in Turkey. The study results showed that graduate students experienced a low level of burnout. In addition, it was found out that there were differences between the sub-dimensions of burnout based on students' gender. However, no difference was found between the levels of burnout and whether graduate students work in a profession.
Defining the student burnout construct: a structural analysis from three burnout inventories

College student burnout has been assessed mainly with the Maslach burnout inventory (MBI). However, the construct's definition and measurement with MBI has drawn several criticisms and new inventories have been suggested for the evaluation of the syndrome. A redefinition of the construct of student burnout is proposed by means of a structural equation model, reflecting burnout as a second order factor defined by factors from the MBI-student survey (MBI-SS); the Copenhagen burnout inventory-student survey (CBI-SS) and the Oldenburg burnout inventory-student survey (OLBI-SS). Standardized regression weights from Burnout to Exhaustion and Cynicism from the MBI-SS scale, personal burnout and studies related burnout from the CBI, and exhaustion and disengagement from OLBI, show that these factors are strong manifestations of students' burnout. Objectives: Academic burnout poses a challenge to the educational process. Higher education institutions have responsibilities similar to the ones of management in business settings. These institutions are responsible for creating conditions conducive to development and, as such, may be interested in verifying the presence of student burnout and pinpointing its causes. The purpose of this study was to answer these needs and develop a scale to measure the effect of organizational factors that may predict student burnout. Material and Methods: This paper reports the results of a study conducted on a sample of Polish students (N = 659) to construct and validate a multidimensional measure of organizational factors impacting academic burnout, focusing on students. For background purposes and as a starting point, the authors used the concept of the areas of worklife by Ch. Maslach and M. Leiter, who identified 6 areas of the work environment that affect the relationships people develop with their work, i.e., workload, control, reward, community, fairness, and values. Results: The authors assessed the factor structure, reliability, and construct validity and performed confirmatory factor analysis of the new scale to measure 6 areas of academic life. Given the results of this study, the scale can be recommended as an adequate tool to measure organizational (academic) factors of burnout in students. The purpose of this study is to find a general picture of quality of life in students and to find the relationship between quality of life and burnout. Quality of life of students explains the level of satisfaction of student life and is a predictor of academic success. This relates to evaluating the satisfaction of life domains (health, self-esteem, spiritual, money or standards of living, work, play, helping, friendship, sibling relationships, spiritual, learning, creativity, family, neighborhood and community). Burnout is defined as a condition where individuals experience emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduce self-efficacy. The study used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 469 students. Data was collected using Quality of Life Inventory and Student Burnout Scale. Data analysis techniques used the Pearson correlation method to determine the relationship between quality of life and burnout among students. The F-Test technique is used to compare differences in quality of life based on gender. The results showed no significant difference in the quality of life of men and women. The highest life domain is family. While the lowest life domain is love, the relationship between quality of life and burnout was found to be negatively correlated. The burnout dimension consisting of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reducing academic efficacy was found to be negatively correlated with quality of life, based on the results of the study needed for the development of counseling interventions to improve the quality of life to reduce burnout in students.

Background and Aim: Academic burnout is the feeling of inadequacy and mental fatigue induced by chronic stress in students lacking the necessary resources to carry out their duties and tasks assigned to them. This study aimed to determine academic burnout and some related factors in medical students of Islamic Azad University of Mashhad in 2015-2016. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 181 medical students in degrees of basic sciences, traineeship, and internship were selected by convenience sampling. The data collection instrument was the Persian version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory Student Survey and a checklist of demographic variables. The collected data were analyzed using SPSSv. 18 software, descriptive and analytical tests, such as t-test and ANOVA. Results: The mean total score of academic burnout was 34.69 ± 14.69. It was concluded that 23.2% of the subjects had a high level of burnout and 51.4% a moderate level. No significant relationship was found between age, marital status, having the second job, and the educational level without any of the dimensions and the total score of the burnout questionnaire (P>0.05). The mean of academic dissatisfaction was higher in men than in women (p = 0.01). With regard to the place of residence, the mean score of inefficiency in the student home was significantly higher than that of the dormitory (p = 0.04). Conclusion: The results of the study showed that a significant percentage of students suffer from academic burnout. In this study, female gender played a protective role in the dimension of academic dissatisfaction and living in a dormitory in the area of inefficiency.
