Development and Evaluation of Spa Tourism in the Area of Podkarpackie Voivodeship and Lviv Region

Purpose: The aim of the study is to assess spa tourism in Podkarpackie voivodeship and Lviv region on the basis of a diagnostic survey conducted in 2020 among tourists from Poland and Ukraine. The aim is also to assess the attractiveness of health resorts on both sides of the border. Design/Methodology/Approach: The configuration and methodological requirements of the research process were based on own survey research, available literature, observation and available data from health resorts in Podkarpackie voivodeship and Lviv region. Findings: The research will contribute to the formation of promotional strategies in the specified regions, and increasing tourist traffic may have an impact on the development of these regions and greater interest in the naturally valuable areas, and consequently create new jobs for the local population. The results of the research showed which of the attractions in the examined areas charm tourists and testify to the attractiveness of border regions. Practical implications: Reliability and universality of research is becoming an absolute requirement at the present time and is a decisive argument for the effectiveness of analyses and evaluations. Due to universality of the research methodology presented in the study, can be used in any region to evaluate the attractions and attractiveness of health resorts on the Polish and Ukrainian side in the Carpathian region. Originality/Value: The presented research methodology a comprehensive studies based on pragmatic assumptions with the support of specialised literature and observations due to the residence of the authors of the study in the researched areas. It also defines the scope and authenticity of the results in the presented topic.

In the context in which society is evolving at a high speed and lifestyle is becoming increasingly stressful, the tourist, respectively patient-tourist motivations and preferences meet changes also. In these conditions, health resorts are forced to fold on the actual situation and to adjust their tourist offer for meeting the customer's needs and for keeping, at least, the number of tourist arrivals. The actual paper tried to ensure if the motivations and preferences of Romanian modern patient-tourist correspond with the conclusions of global trend described in specialized literature, through survey amongst residents of Moineşti municipality, Târgu Ocna and Slănic Moldova health resorts. Spa and wellness tourism as a spatially determined product of health resorts in Poland
This article describes spa and wellness tourism as an example of a tourist product in the spatial formulation of health resorts in Poland. Health resorts are described as a specific local product that could be the object of territorial marketing. The factor conception of a general tourist product that was developed by V. T. C. Middleton, which refers to building the tourist product of a health resort, is thoroughly analysed. The difference between the tourist product of a health resort and a health resort tourist product is highlighted, as well as themultifunctional character of health resorts. There is no agreement on the definition of a spa in specialist literature. There is a difference between the notion of spa in Europe and in the U.S. This difference was observed by analysing the definitions of a spa as set forth by the European Spas Association (ESPA) and the International Spa Association (ISPA).
Role and Importance of Spa and Mountain Tourism in Serbia
Tourism as a complex socioeconomic category selects the most attractive and most beautiful natural resources, especially in the mountains and plains, as well as to the spa health resort centers. The reason for the going to the mountain is the need for rest, relaxation and stay on a healthy and clean air, as well as the desire for recreation, skiing, etc. Existing resources, its topography, lush vegetation, clean air, healthy food, is indicating numerous potentials related to the culture and natural heritage, which only needs to use it. The paper describes the benefits of a spa and mountain tourism of the Republic of Serbia as the most visited tourist destinations. Well preserved natural environment of Serbian mountains underlies a variety of activities that are related to mountain tourism, while traditional treatment healing thermal waters dates back to Roman times, as evidenced by numerous archaeological sites in the localities spas of Serbia.
Health and Beauty in Kłodzko Land – Branded Spa Tourism Product of the Region in Theory and Practce
The market of health tourism is changing which calls for adjusting the product to the expectations of spa clients and widening the range of available services. The Kłodzko Land is a well-known spa enclave. The Marketing Strategy of the Klodzko Land, Orlickie Mountains and Podorlicka Foothills has mapped out the directions of development of the tourist product. The changes can be observed in the policy of the spa enterprises as well as spa & wellness ventures. The main goal of the present article is to evaluate the present state and future perspectives of development of the Kłodzko Land health product. The authors analyze the changes which are taking place in the spa enterprises as well as their relations with the surroundings, including the spa & wellness ventures. The presented paper shows the results of a comparative analysis describing the state and occupancy rate of accommodation establishments in Busko county in 2000 and 2015, including the influence of Busko-Zdrój and Solec-Zdrój where two major spas are located. With the use of the data from the Central Statistical Office describing establishments that provide accommodation services, a number of indices characterizing tourist management (i.a. density of the accommodation establishments, Charvat's, Baretje's and Defert's indices) and tourist traffic (Schneider's and Defert's) were calculated. The analysis of the indices values obtained has shown that Busko county can be classified as well-developed touristically in comparison to other counties in the voivodeship, and even in Poland. It has been proved that the two dynamically functioning spas contribute significantly to such an assessment. Functioning of Tourism Market The importance of the Busko-Zdrój and Solec-Zdrój spas for tourist accommodation in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Busko county with the area of 968 km 2 was inhabited by 73.4 thousand people in 2015, which in comparison to the whole Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship equaled to 8.3% and 5.8% respectively. Almost 17,000 people live in Busko-Zdrój which is a city with the county rights, while Solec-Zdrój is the seat of the rural municipality with 5,000 inhabitants.
Spa and Wellness Tourism in Poland - A New Geographical Analysis

The aim of the paper is to present the situation of the spa resorts in Poland from the geographical point of view, emphasizing especially the tourist context of their existence. This article firstly deals with the brief history of spas in Poland and the definition of the phenomenon, presented in the Polish literature and legal acts. The main part of the paper presents the geographical analysis of the phenomenon: spatial distribution of the activities allowed by law, localization concerning the different kind of landscapes that accompanies the spas, natural and curative resources and the medical treatments based on their potential. In addition, the tourist context analysed with the support of the statistical data of the accommodation units, tourist sand its preferences, and health tourist establishments in the spa resorts and its usage is also crucial. The perspectives of the spa tourism development in Poland concerning the potential and obstacles are presented.
Treatment and prophylaxis using mineral water have a long history dating back to the Roman Empire in the cross-border regions (CBR). The objective of the study is to evaluate the potential of CBR Bulgaria-Serbia for the development of medical spa and wellness tourism using hydrogeological, medico-biological and medico-social assessments of tourism resources. More than 30 mineral springs and 21 touristic objects have been studied. There are good hydrogeological conditions for the development of intensive medical spa, wellness and spa tourism in the area of investigation. The combination of free-flowing springs and specific climate conditions is a great advantage for the development of highly specialized tourism such as medical spas. The main wellness principles for creating holistic effects of treatment are described, and on the basis of an assessment of the medical spa and spa network and the market for these services in the CBR, a new management concept is presented. The core of the model is finding a good balance between the unique environment, highly qualified personnel, quality of services and innovative products such as Geomedical tourism, which will contribute to wellness and spa tourism and become a successful business. The necessity for certifying medical spa and spa services and introducing a quality management system (QMS) and a health risk assessment system (HSE) is outlined with the view to promoting a specialized tourism product on the international market
