The State of Green Technologies Report
Where are “Green Technologies” today and where are they likely to go for the next few years? Humanity is undergoing a Green Revolution. Whatever ones opinion might be concerning anthropogenic climate change, the Green Revolution is necessary – highly necessary – and it is occurring all over the globe!
Climate change, environmental impact and the limited natural resources urge scientific research and novel technical solutions. The monograph series Green Energy and Technology serves as a publishing platform for scientific and technological approaches to "green"-i.e. environmentally friendly and sustainable-technologies. While a focus lies on energy and power supply, it also covers "green" solutions in industrial engineering and engineering design. Green Energy and Technology addresses researchers, advanced students, technical consultants as well as decision makers in industries and politics. Hence, the level of presentation spans from instructional to highly technical.
Impact of Green Technology and Its future aspects
We present this paper to promote green or clean technology, its advantages, future aspects and new emerging trends that may be beneficial for achieving sustainable development. The objective of the work is to analyze the potential and future expansion of such technologies to promote generation of electrical power by the use of solar energy.
Green Technology : Emerging trends towards sustainable Innovation
International Journal of Scientific Research in Computer Science, Engineering and Information Technology, 2023
In recent years, People expect high performance and new technology to accomplish their task conveniently and as fast as possible to stand in this competitive world. In some past decades many technologies had been invented to facilitate user. But over and irresponsibly uses of the technology put negative impact on environment. The term “Green Technology” is encapsulates different kind of technology in order to reduce the company’s environmental footprint. Day by day it is necessary to invest in green computing to make a human life sustainable on planet and reduce the repletion of natural resources. The paper presents different trends that needs to implement in achieving green technology like reducing the use of hardware, focusing on biodegradable products, increase energy efficiency, cost saving, most importantly to reduce emission of greenhouse gases followed by challenges faced by particular technology. In this paper, we have discussed the term green computing with its emerging sectors and how it can be beneficial for sustainable environment.
Opportunities & Challenges for Green Technology in 21st Century
Sustainable Technology eJournal, 2016
Technology has affected the society and its surroundings in many ways and helped to develop more advanced economies including today's global economy. Science has contributed many technologies to the society which include Aircraft technology, Automobile technology, Biotechnology, Computer technology, Telecommunication technology, Internet technology, Renewable energy technology, Atomic & Nuclear technology, Nanotechnology, Space technology etc. have changed the lifestyle of the people and provided comfortability. In order to sustain this comfort of people in the society, they have to worry about the sustainability of the surrounding environment. In this paper, we propose how the technologies can be made sustainable by adding green component so that they can avoid environmental degradation and converted into green technologies to provide a clean environment for future generations. Green technology innovation in a developing country
AIP Conference Proceedings
Developing countries rapidly grow when green technology, which is referred to as eco-friendly processes or methods, is developed in parallel. Here, some examples of green technology research and development in Thailand will be overviewed. A huge amount of agricultural waste is generated during agricultural processes. Applying these agricultural wastes in order to maximize the benefits for environmental cleanups of water, soil and air has been studied and commercialized. For example: 1) Application of agricultural waste and/or biochar developed from agricultural waste as biological adsorbents for wastewater treatment in some industries, such as textile/dye industries, and printing industries. In addition, this agricultural waste can also be applied in decolorization of sugar syrup from sugar industries; 2) The research on modified biomaterials as adsorbents and packing materials in biofilters would also be presented, and now, pilot scale biofilters have been developed and applied to solve air pollution problems in the field for future commercialization; 3) Some agricultural waste and/or biochar developed from agricultural waste in our laboratory can promote rice growth and improve rice quality via the reduction of Cd uptake and translocation in rice. Phytoremediation technology, in which plants are used to improve the environmental quality in water and air, has also been studied and would be presented. 1) Some species of native Thai plants can effectively remove heavy metals and dye from wastewater. For this research, a constructed wetland for wastewater treatment was developed and applied in a real contaminated site. 2) In air phytoremediation, some plant species harbor highly volatile organic compound (VOC) removal efficiency. In addition, plants do not only absorb organic pollutants, but also they have the innate ability to degrade organic compounds and use them as carbon sources for their growth. In addition, plant growth-promoting (PGP) bacteria inoculation into plants can enhance airborne pollutant removal. From this research, an indoor air phytoremediation system was developed in order to reduce CO2 emissions with high VOC removal efficiency. The high cost of technology transfer is a major problem, especially in developing countries, and green technology research and innovation can overcome this problem along with efficient allocation of resources and technologies.
DISCOURSE ON GREEN TECHNOLOGIES AND THEIR APPLICATION
Green Technology is one of the top 6 priorities of the European Union, expressed as the European Green Deala growth strategy to transform the EU into a competitive economy. Since Green Technology is a field in its' growth phase, there is still some ambiguity left, especially when describing it. This research aims at identifying the most important features that define Green Technology. To achieve this, the origins and contents of Green Technology are analysed by using the literature review method from two points of view-regulation and industrial. Contributing features and their origin s are identified and further analysed. To obtain the viewpoint of the Green Technology industry representatives, the features are ranked by identifying them through the experimental research and the knowledge of the industry experts. The research provides conclusions on the theoretical basis of Green Technology, including the explanation of the viewpoint of the industry, as well as the knowledge and the observations of possible tendencies. The provided description of the key features that contribute to the identity of Green Technology and its' application has revealed that the most important attribute in describing Green Technology is the economical/ecological need for the technology. The priority is set to the assessment of the needs and abilities of Green Technology over the regional policy, thus emphasizing the market situation against the regional policies related to supporting such initiatives.
